What did you draw this with?
DIGITAL: My software of choice is, and has been for years, MangaStudio.
I have used many different versions of it, from Debut 3.0 to its newest release, 5 or Clip Studio Paint as it is now called. The reason for this is I originally wanted to create manga, plus its inexpensive. What I later discovered is the pen and line tool is superb and, since Ex 4 and 5, its also a great coloring software. If my art is in the Digital category, it was drawn in MangaStudio, unless specified otherwise.
I also use The GIMP, a freeware art program. I have never upgraded from version 2.6 and don't ever plan to as I think it is perfect in 2.6 form. I use it mostly for quick editing work; cropping, adding watermarks, resizing and adjusting levels/ contrast and such.
All my art starts on semi-transparent layout paper as a sketch, drawn with my handy mechanical pencil. I hardly make anything from scratch on the computer.
TRADITIONAL: I use a bit of everything. I have Prismacolor Colored Pencils, Dr Ph Martin's concentrated watercolors, regular tube watercolors, Sakura Microns for lineart, white gel pen and white gouache for highlights, plus a small collection of pastels (oil and soft) though I don't use them very much. I adore traditional art but I don't always have the time for it, unfortunately, as it is quite time-consuming, unforgiving when it comes to mistakes and frustrating to scan. It's complicated.
How do you get your lines so smooth/crisp?
I feel a bit embarrassed to put this question here as it sounds egotistical but I do get asked this a lot! I work with MangaStudio at 1200 DPI for lines and use a Wacom tablet. I've been using an Intuos 3 for the longest time but will be upgrading to a Cintiq 13hd by January 2015. For lineart, MangStudio is the best on the market, in my opinion!
Do you have any tutorials?
Yes! I have one on coloring and one on lineart.
As for how to draw chibis, there are many tutorials for chibis out there, plus I don't think there's any point in trying to draw them exactly like someone else. I would personally recommend to find your special, unique style by drawing lots of chibi! My thoughts on chibis can be found here.
Do you take requests?
I don't officially take requests, however, it doesn't mean I don't want to hear what you guys would like to see! The popularity of my Disney Princess linearts is what made me continue drawing them and, especially when it comes to my linearts, it's nice for me to know what you guys are interested in coloring. Feel free to leave a comment in my Shoutbox or on my front page if there's something you want to see from me!
Can I color this lineart /sketch/ thing?
I get asked this one a lot; and the answer is simple: have you read the rules in the description? If no, read them. Does it say 'this lineart is available for color? If yes, then color it. If no, don't. Just about every question you could ask is covered in the rules. Which leads into the next question....
Can I color your lineart and sell it as a Print/ make it into an Adoptable?
No! My linearts are shared to give others something fun to color - not for you to make a profit. Even if the adoptables are free. I can not stress this enough. Any violations of these rules will be given one warning than a DMCA take-down notice within 24 hours, and DA works fast!
Can I print your lineart/ make it into a card/ show it on Facebook?
In most cases, yes! Just please remember to leave the watermark and link back to my website.
