These Are My Wings by YamiRedPen These Are My Wings by YamiRedPen
These are my wings
And this is my sky.
Deeper than water
And through it I fly.
This is my wind
Sweeter than wine.
These are my talons
To seize what is mine.

Another quick sketch of the Siren seductress Odyssey, this time showing off her wings. And I know there are probably a few scientifically inaccurate things about them, but keep in mind these aren't bird wings; they're essentially human arms with feathers.

I drew this one mainly because ~Riverfox237 wanted to know what Odyssey would look like with her wings. So here you go, ~Riverfox237: one winged Siren, just for you. :)

Odyssey is an original character and belongs to :iconblueflame91: and :iconyamiredpen:, so please respect us as her creators and don't steal her. Thanks! :)

Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout! :excited:

Nice! Now THAT is how I thought an evil Siren should look, including the snarly smile. That's a face that says, "I'm gonna rip your mind apart and enjoy doing it."

So do her wings let her fly? I'm sure you've thought of this. I rather enjoy hearing your scientific explanations on these things. =D

Awesome job on the pic! I hope someday you have a go at drawing her Banshee brother and Gorgon cousin! =D

Mwa-ha-ha, yes! The true form of Odyssey! Although she hardly ever looks like this, especially not in public. She'd get some pretty funny looks if she walked around with wings-for-arms all the time. :)

Ah yes, more scientific explanations! Odyssey can indeed fly, although she can't do so for very long because it wears her out. (Imagine flailing your arms up and down for an extended period of time. It's tiring. :faint:) She's able to fly mainly because of her unique skeletal structure. Her bones are hollow, like a bird's. This means they're pretty brittle and easily broken, but it also makes her fast and extremely light-weight.

I'd like to do a group pic of them sometime, but not right now, since her brother actually doesn't even have a fully fleshed-out character design yet. ^^; He was one of the very last characters to join the cast, and we haven't worked on him much. The Gorgon's been there since the beginning. She was originally our first major villain, but she's changed a lot since then and now she's actually one of the good guys! :D

LOL! That would be interesting!
Child: Mommy, why does that lady have feathers on her arms?
Mother: She's probably going to one of those strange comic-cons that I warned you about. Don't stare.

Yeah, that would be very tiring. SWEET. See, I knew you'd think of something like her having light body weight and hollow bones! =D And of course it's nice to balance things out; it just wouldn't be fair if the sinister singing seductress also had super strength!
(Bwa-ha! I have at last found a good one! >.> ...And now I can't remember what it's called! :XD:)

Understandable. XD The rich pop-singer Gorgon is a good guy? NICE. That was not expected!

I'm totally against making my characters too powerful. I always give them some obvious weakness, be it something physical or an aspect of their personality that can be easily exploited. Every single one of my OCs can be easily defeated, if you just know how to go about it.
Alliteration, right?

Well, she'd probably be a spoiled brat if it wasn't for Odyssey constantly bossing her around. Having a cousin like that would keep anyone's ego in check. :)

It's a good plan to have. No one really enjoys God-like characters. Well, unless they're big climactic villains, or Digimon.
THERE it is! The word totally escaped me right when I needed it! ^^;

LOL! Too true! I guess that means that she's not so bad, after all. :)

I used to be such a huge fan of Digimon when I was a kid. Then they went and made all the new versions that just weren't as good. But I used to watch the show every Saturday morning. It's what got me interested in anime, which in turn got me interested in drawing!

And I will admit to having one all powerful character, but she's like, the final climactic villain of the entire story-arc, so it doesn't really count.

I kinda feel sorry for her, with Odder around all the time. Oh, and you wanted a name, right? Her real name is Medley Leucosia, but her stage name is "Medusa", and that's what everyone calls her. Except for Odyssey, who calls her "Meddy".

Yup. The newest version just tanked. Kid's turning INTO the Digimon? What?!

I'm happy to say I've always been interested in drawing, but I've also always watched cartoons, so they undoubtedly have had some effect on my creations. Except for my animals. Those are all mine and no one is allowed to claim an influence on them! :shakefish:

There, see, that's alright because that's exactly where all-powerful characters are SUPPOSED to be used! Otherwise they'd kill all the heroes and rule the world or just become cliche. So I agree, it doesn't count. ^^

*huge grin* Her nickname is Odder? THAT makes me happy. 'Cause it sounds really close to otter. :XD:
Nice deal w/ the name, lol! You have to love irony! And Meddy's a cute nickname.

I know!

Well, I was drawing before I got into cartoons, but I just wasn't any good at it. ^^;

Totally not counted.

Blue and I have fun coming up with little shorthand names for our characters. Odder, her brother Adder, her cousin Meddy... And of course all the good guys have nicknames too. :) Including a girl named Bob and a boy named Vicky. (Most of these nicknames aren't exactly canon and will never see the light of day.) And we draw from all sorts of sources when naming our characters, including mythology, pop culture, and foreign languages. Almost everyone's name has meaning of some sort.
