Shark Week Day 4|1

Goblin Sharks are notoriously known for their scraggly appearance and sharp teeth, an appearance that is very fitting of their name "Goblin."
Their common name even comes from a rough translation of the Japanese word tengu,
which is a mythical creature with a long nose and red face, paying tribute to the long snout and pink face of the shark.
Some even call this deep-sea shark a living fossil because it is the is the oldest living species of shark on the planet,
as its species has been roaming the oceans for over 125 million years!
It also still contains almost all of it's primitive traits. Goblin sharks have pink fleshy skin,
a large extended snout, protruding jaws with pointed teeth, a long body, and a sharp long tail.
This large predator can grow up to 16 feet long (4.8m), and spends most of its life in the dark depths of the ocean from 330 ft (100 m) to 4265 feet (1300 m)below!
This unsightly creature also has an eerie way of eating it's food, as it extends its entire jaw outward to catch and devour prey.
Their long snout helps them detect prey, with their diet consisting of slow moving sea creatures that reside on the sea floor and any other fishes that it can catch in mid water.
