Feet. Who likes feet? I do now. They have a great flow I think.

in your opinion, which is the hardest to learn drawing between feet and hand?

i always heard that hands aren't easy to drawn, and i surely agree, they are not easy due to the shape and the amount of shape change they can achieve doing various jobs and gestures, but i always felt feet (especially bare feet) are at least a little step harder on the difficulty scale ^^

ah goes without saying that for this reason i appreciate even more the cool and useful practice sketch of yours :)

Hm, both are not easy and take a lot of practice to get right and expressive. But I'd say you can get away with more mistakes on feet than on hands. You can reduce the foot to only a few base forms and make it work.. like group the toes to one form. It's not as simple with hands, since fingers are often spread more.
Thanks for the kind words!

ah yeah i totally agree! You see, in a way what you said covers part of why i think that (with my convolute warped way of reasoning, eheh) about feet depiction. What i mean (i realize now i wasn't quite clear enough in the question, should have specified!) is that it always felt to me that drawing feet in various poses and angles keeping them as plausible and detailed as the hands (toes correctly delineatedd etc) was harder than with said hands, and for that reason a bit of schematization and simplification are well used and totally ok. (more than once i was satisfied with one a bit simplified foot, then trying to add toes and a few details... BAAAM ruined, burn it with fire! XD)

All that aside, knowing your opinion has been interesting, thanks!

Oh I see. From that side of view, I would probably still say hands are harder to draw. Especially without reference. Hands can be so complex in their shape, and have often a lot of foreshortening going on, no matter which angle you see, that it makes my brain hurt a lot. I find feet are way simpler in that regard.
But this is just my opinion and it varies for everyone.

Sure, happy to share. :)

I grew up hating feet. I thought they were gross and got very annoyed when my little sister touched me with them.

But now I realize that artistically they are amazing. They can tell so much about a person's mood. They can be so graceful and alluring even.

Also excellent work here with these studies.

Thanks for sharing your view on this subject! Very interesting. I know other people who really dislike feet and find them gross. From a hygiene stand point I get it, but they can be extremely interesting from a different angle.

Yeah exactly. It just took looking at them in a different way! To be fair though, art has made me find a new appreciation for most things, even those I previously found mundane.
