a rescued african grey who likes to destroy my furniture

the little guy was caught in the wild and was heavily mistreated for the last 25 years and is now recovering , it took me about 8 weeks to be able to touch him but progress is being made , can't say i am a parrot expert but i am very patient which seems to help a lot .

he's around 45 according to the previous owners , don't really know how they can tell seeing that he was caught in the wild but he is at least 25 , that is how long they had him so if everything is going well for him he is either going to live for another 30 to 50 years depending on how old he really is .

i think i read something about the coloring of the feathers but either way , even if he is around 45 he still has a lot of years ahead of him if he stays healthy , he might even outlive me . he is getting better , it's a step by step day by day kind of thing but he is already comfortable enough to sit and even sleep right next to me on the couch ( the one he already destroyed by the way but you might be able to tell by the pictures ).

yep , i am either a saint or a damn fool , considering the fact that the money i spend on his ass was supposed to go into a pc upgrade . at least the little guy can relax now and move around freely , almost like a "free bird" ...

he does have a very nasty bite because he's not holding back but i am already able to pet him at least a little on his head , it's going to be a long time until he is going to trust me completely because of his past life although he is already very infatuated with me at this point and even very jealous and gets very angry when i touch someone else . when his former owner came over the other day to see how he is doing , he completely flipped his shit when he saw her , he started to scream and to flap his wings in shear panic , i don't even wanna know what he went through . he is also alone because his partner died just before i got him .

must have because he is still very afraid of everything , even branches . it was her and her husband , they even had the cage covered up during the day for the last couple of years because the parrots were getting to loud . the other parrot who was not even another african grey died because she had an egg stuck inside and died after the surgery , they didn't even get along anyhow , you can see in the pictures that his neck has no feathers , that was because they were fighting with each other all the time according to the previous owner and plugged each others feathers , poor little thing died just before she got away . the previous owner won't be coming over anymore because last time the bird almost got a heart attack because of it but she was just curious to see how he's doing now , she had no ill intend as far as i can tell , they just didn't know how to handle the birds in the first place and now i have a completely messed up bird at home who needs lots of attention and love .

that's what you get when you buy exotic pets just to be able to brag about how much money you have .

people like to brag and collect things they don't need , it's sad but that's the human condition.
