Just walking down Hollywood Blvd, doing a little sightseeing with my friend who has never been.  Guess Darth Vader was checking the scene out too.

Great contrast and sharpness, good comp for the wider shot you were going for. Not a fan of the selective saturation (either go full color or full B&W) or the Dutch angle used.

Appreciate the comment/tips.  As you noted, the various color channels were darkened and desaturated.  I don't do this type of editing too often as it doesn't work for many photos, but in this case, believe it or not, after I posted it on facebook a while back I got more responses on this one photo than almost any other!--most commenting they loved the colors.  I think it's just one of those things that works for some people but not for others.  My personal goal in this photo was to get the viewer to first be intrigued then to examine the entire scene for nuances, like the girl in the corner looking shocked at Mr. Vader, hence the slight tilt.  Anyway, I am always looking for insight into what other viewers like to see--so again, thanks for writing.

I guess that's just one of the things to accept: different people will notice different things. The color scheme is always a tough choice when going this extreme and will surely divide people - if most seem to have liked this, then I suppose it was successful. The poster on the building looking down might be something most people won't notice because it's a part of the background rather than the points of attention. I think it's reasonable to assume the viewer is drawn to the colored and highly contrasted area with the cab, Vader and the guy with the sunglasses - even when looking for details most people might look down the walkway and the building framing the right side rather than the completely opposite side of the photograph.
