My Bio

Me: I guess if I had to introduce the work I do in a pretentious artsy way, it would be something like "I explore the relationship between past nostalgia and imagined futures". But really I make a lot of shit, and it's hard to categorise. I have some key focuses, but it's mostly for fun. (I have a so-called professional career but it gets soul-draining sometimes and I have to remind myself why I got into art in the first place.) Cyberpunk cityscapes, surreal stuff (not sure how to describe it), pixel art, v a p o r w a v e portraits of Stalin, agit-prop for communism done in 70s and 80s aesthetics, some laptop stickers that I think are probably ironic but I'm not sure.

My politics: I'm an anti-imperialist ML currently studying Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, proletarian feminism, and the dialectics of sex & gender. I'm also a trans woman.

I've been around for a while. If you go back far enough, there are a lot of things completely disagree with now (e.g posters about Kurdistan and free speech). I keep them around as an archive of my political development, and as a way of humbling myself, because some of those posters were genuinely gag-inducing – not just politically but aesthetically, too.

Here's a not-so representative sample of the things I make:

have to say your art is truly incredible

Your gallery is beautiful, I could look at it for hours!
Comrade, can you recommend me some good introductory books on the history of the DPRK and/or socialism in China?
(you might be able to find these on libgen.io)

korea

ellen brun's 'socialist korea' (covers socialist construction in the dprk)

bleiker's 'divided korea' (modern, foreign policy oriented

'patriots, traitors and empires' from stephen gowans is a must read

bruce cuming's 'the korean war' is a little liberal at times but still sympathetic

china

han suyin's 'morning deluge', 'wind in the tower' (covers 1893 -> 1960s i think?)

obviously william hinton's stuff

huaiyin li's 'village china under socialism and reform' (covers 1945 to 2008) discussed daily rural life & moreover connected it to modern china

there are more good introductory texts out there but those are the ones i can think of at the top of my head.
You're an anarchist, aren't you.
