::THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ:: by XimonR ::THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ:: by XimonR
This is the final project.

The project is 4,74m x 0.5m, (approx 187' x 19.7 inches).
A total of 17 individual images linked to each other, making one single illustration.

I apologize it's so big, but I just had to upload the whole images into 1 single file.

This is my graduation project. I have been working on this for the last 4 months, plus 1 year of study, research, troubles and headaches.

P.S. Thanks a lot for the DD... I really don't know what to say. Thank you.

::THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ:: by *XimonR. From the suggester: "He's been working on this for a long time, and it shows. The piece goes through the entire story, and each image blends in with the next one. It's a marvelous work of art, and it more than deserves to be shared." This is exquisite. There are so many different art styles so it's fun to see how you evolved while creating this. Though, I just realized how sad the ending is. Dorothy has to return to her grim family and struggle through the Great Depression as they attempt to recover from the twister that wrecked their home and income.

Hello! Thank you very much for your comment.
You know, that is what I never understood about the novel.
Dorothy wanted to go back home all the time. The land of Oz was beautiful, and she was treated well by everybody.
She was loved, and yet she wanted to go back home. And the book describes her home as gray, even uncle Henry and Aunt Em.
The ending is only sad from our perspective, because she was very happy to come back.

You're welcome. I guess somewhere in the Oz series she would have found happiness.
I'm pretty sure Aunt Em and Uncle Henry end up moving to Oz with her in one of the later books.

Unfortunately no, that never happen :) But I am doing what she didn't.
I moved far away from my country, to a land that I can only compare to Oz.

I miss my homeland, but I learned to call this place Home :)

its an old cartoon series referring to alexander volkov`s book series "the wizard of emerald city" which is based on wizard of oz, of course =) and u would wonder how similar to your pics that cartoon shows the story (but not as beautiful)

This is outstanding work! I really liked the transitions, like each scene just bled into the next. The skull one and rocks in the poppy field was really clever. It was cool how Dorothy's hair was different each page.

Whoa. This is awesome! I love how you blended them all together! Like the backgrounds will match even as you make the transition into a different scene, and it will just subtly flow on to the next and so on...

Fantastic job!

Well, that's what counts, then. I hate it when artists make something awesome and are like "Ugh this turned out terrible." Lol.

Even though I probably do that sometimes. (Not that my work is awesome, mind you. Lol)

I think I do my best when I work on something. If the result isn't as great as I wanted, or as people wanted, there is not much I can do about it. I will do it better in the future, because the idea here is to improve. I hate artists when they are perfectly happy with everything they want, and they have been doing the same thing for years with no improve.

And yes, if you aren't happy with the results (being awesome or not) you shouldn't say a word. When somebody claim that, I normally agree with them. "Yeah this is terrible, why don't you erase it?"

I check out your stuff. I like this one a whole lot: [link]
I can't really explain it, when I saw it I see it very authentic. So she is you, uh? Looks bright and happy, so different from all the emo thing. Very nice :)

I suppose if you do your absolute best, then no one can ask for more than that. So that's fine lol.

Oh my. I couldn't tell someone they should erase something. I just...couldn't. Mainly because I'm a wimp and wouldn't want to get virtually screamed at. ^^;

Oh. Well...okay. Thanks lol. I don't do emo. If I can help it. I mean, I'm not exactly a happy, perky person, but I'm not all "Life sucks" all the time, you know? Idk...

I don't know what kind of comment I could do... it is a masterpiece after all! (By "masterpiece" I mean the original signification of "chef d'oeuvre").

However, I have a question. Did you only draw this picture or did you also made a public presentation in front of some professors or master? Sorry if my question seems indiscrete but I am a bit curious... and I don't know very well how Art Studies look like.

Your question isn't indiscreet at all! :)
I still have to make the "public defense" of my work this year, next month (I wish!)
I am suppose to explain why I did the things I did, no loose knots. :)
