The soft crunch of gravel awakens the sleeping Albertosaurus from his nap. A soft jolt of startled nerves upon seeing a shadow is more than enough to shake off any left over drowsiness. Bringing the titan to his feet as to scan his surroundings for the dweller that wandered in his territory. Bumbled, really, given the sound of the footsteps.
Soon his vision finds the invader as much as his scent. A pale green figure dripping with the fresh viscera from a kill. Yet just as his haunches adjust his posture to seem more imposing, a friendly gesture greets his eyes. A first out here in this lonesome region of fallen debris. Most of the larger species avoid areas like this for the hazards that unsettled structures impose on them. Something that just didn't register in Abel's mind. His, and that of this stranger Cryolophosaurus.
“Follow me!” Their honeyed tone beacons him as a swaying mess of feathers disappearing behind a cluster of vines announces their departure.
Abel's eyes narrow.
“That was… an ordeal.” The fluffy tailed vayron sighs as her trusted companion trods alongside her. “I really need to ask for references when I hire from now on.”
“Don't beat yerself up, lass.” Valeron attempts to comfort his old friend. “There's just no predicting some things in life. Like people, an’ how they'll act.”
“You're right.” Alexis begrudgingly admits. “Still. I do feel somewhat responsible for the grief we caused those poor Haedians.”
“Then we make it up to them.” Valeron lightly nudges her at the withers. “From here on in, we'll be more cautious. Thoughtful, even.”
Alexis smiles at her old friend. At times, it feels like he's the brother she never had.
In the same instance, both of their ears perk at the sound of an echoing voice in the caverns. Another congregation of Haedians are drawn in by the alluring calls shouting out. The promise of competition, if they both understand the intent correctly.
“Sounds like your game.” The she-vay tells Valeron.
