+ Intelligent - A smart man, Anders can think on his feet. Is tough to decieve.

- Sloppy - While not a total slob, doesn't bother to clean most of the time. Even wears sloppy clothing most of the time.

- Vindictive - If something or someone manages to actually make him angery, Anders holds grudges. Can be malicious towards those individuals.

Born and raised in Hoen, Anders grew up wanting to be a league trainer, though he promissed his parents that he would wait till he was older to go out and try. As he grew older, however, he heard more and more about the league and trainers and their attitudes towards wild pokemon. While at first he refused to believe the things he was hearing, wanting to believe the best of the league after all, eventually even he had to admit there was something to it.

Anders grew up in sootopolis, and was in the crater city when teams Aqua and Magma had managed to actually summon the primordial forces of sea and land. He witnessed the destruction of his home town, and the league's slow response. He ended up being just one of many that had to evacuate his home to avoid the disaster, and ended up relocating to Issho as a result.

While in Issho, he saw that even the league there had seemingly twisted attitudes towards the relations between trainers and the local wild pokemon. Though, due to the presence of the shadow virus, he felt that it seemed to be even worse. The final straw was when he saw a news report about an entire group of wild pokemon captured and killed after a nearby trainer's camp was descimated, due to fears that one or more may be infected. He'd had enough. While he felt that trainers were needed to keep the world safe, the way the league went about it was all wrong.
