Infinite and Paradox

A piece I commissioned from @JocelynMinions involving Infinite the Jackal and his adopted son Paradox the young fox. Here's some info on the little fella:

Appearance (Main Look + Variable Markings)

Paradox is a small, slender fox kit with an oversized head and ears that give him a perpetually youthful, almost doll-like silhouette. His base fur is a deep, stormy grey that fades dramatically into luminous silver-white at the tips of his ears, tail, cheek tufts, and along a thin dorsal stripe. Delicate white “frost” markings trace elegant patterns across his muzzle, chest, inner ears, and the backs of his paws—like frozen spiderwebs or shattered glass.

Key Distinguishing Features:

• Large, expressive violet eyes that glow softly when channeling paradox energy (brighter during intense emotion or power use).

• Faint horizontal scar above his left eye (healing from cruiser debris; pale pink line. Usually hidden by markings).

• Thin vertical scar along his left ribs (from earlier sniper incident; almost invisible under fur).

Unique Variable Markings Ability:

Paradox’s white markings are no longer static. At will (or under strong emotion) they shift and flow like liquid light. Examples observed:

• Lightning-bolt slashes mirroring Infinite’s facial scar (intimidation mode).

• Miniature crimson cube outlines (combat focus).

• Galaxy-like swirls of violet and silver (when calm or playful).

• Temporary red accents bleeding into silver gradients (rage or protective instinct).

The change is fluid, painless, and reversible. He has begun experimenting consciously, often matching Infinite’s scar or Ruby glow when defending him.

Personality

Paradox is a living whirlwind of contradictions—exactly as his name implies.

• With Infinite: Clingy, affectionate, and childishly sweet. Calls him “Papa” in nearly every sentence when scared or happy. Sleeps curled against his father’s chest every night. Likes to mess with his father's tail when Infinite is distracted.

• In Combat: Gleefully destructive, taunting, and theatrical. Becomes fiercely protective and rage-driven the moment Infinite is threatened.

• Alone or Anxious: Prone to sudden mood drops, neck twitches, and dark singing. Deep abandonment trauma surfaces in quiet moments.

• General Traits: Bright, curious, mischievous, and surprisingly philosophical for his age. He sings constantly to self-regulate—gentle lullabies when calm, violent anthems when the “urge” rises. He has a child’s sense of humor but an adult’s understanding of loyalty and loss.

Backstory

Orphaned at a very young age when “bad people” destroyed his family, Paradox wandered the ruins following the crimson glow of the Phantom Ruby. He first encountered Infinite as an annoyance and was nearly erased. When a rogue assassin attacked Infinite, Paradox instinctively unleashed raw paradox energy, reversing the cubes and hurling the attacker to his death. Stunned by the act, Infinite adopted him on the spot and named him Paradox.

Since then he has grown from timid shadow to eager trainee to battlefield terror. Survived multiple Resistance “rescue” attempts. Single-handedly dragged a kilometer-long Resistance battlecarrier (Indomitable) from the sky, sustaining minor injuries including several cuts across his arms and legs, as well as severe mental strain due to micro fractures in his skull from the exertion of having moved such a massive object for so long. Currently recovering under Infinite’s constant watch while his powers continue evolving at an alarming rate.

Powers & Abilities

• Paradox Energy / Kinetic Manipulation — Raw, colorless telekinetic force. Can lift, slam, crush, or throw objects/people with strength far beyond his size. However, the larger the size difference, the bigger the strain it puts on him when using the power. (small objects like toys are effortless, crates give him a minor headache, groups of enemies cause migraines, and massive objects like an entire enemy cruiser can even cause him to pass out from the exertion)

• Shockwave Generation — Fist-to-ground radial blasts. Strong enough to cause slight earthquakes.

• Causality Rupture — Instinctive reality-reversal (first used to save Infinite).

• Spatial Teleportation (Stabilized) — Short-to-medium range jumps triggered by emotion or conscious focus. Longer jumps cause exhaustion, nosebleeds, or collapse.

• Massive Object Manipulation — Can seize and drag enormous structures (e.g., entire Resistance cruisers). Has the side effect of overexertion, which leads to strains and in this specific case, micro fractures in the skull.

• Variable Markings (New) — Can

consciously or emotionally alter his white markings into intimidating, glowing, or mimicry patterns.

• Kinetic Shields & Projectiles — Rips metal panels free and uses them as shields or deadly thrown weapons.

• Enhanced Resilience — Absorbs some kinetic impacts; rapid nanite healing.

Weaknesses:

• Emotion-driven — Overuse or extreme fear causes physical collapse.

• Still a child — Physically fragile if caught off-guard.

• Exhaustion after long teleports or massive kinetic feats. Example being the Indomitable incident. Paradox was severely weakened from that ordeal and spent weeks in the medical room.

Relationships:

Infinite the Jackal – “Papa”

The absolute center of Paradox’s universe. Infinite is both the masked destroyer the world fears and the bare-faced, scarred jackal only Paradox is allowed to see. Paradox trusts him completely, sleeps against his chest every night, and will tear reality apart to protect him. Infinite, in turn, has redirected every ounce of his canonical hatred of weakness into ferocious guardianship. He removes his mask only in private for Paradox.

Dr. Eggman – “Big Mustache Man”

Wary but warming respect. Eggman finds Paradox fascinating and useful; Paradox

senses the doctor would weaponize him if Infinite ever fell, but currently tolerates him. Eggman occasionally calls him “the most entertaining variable I’ve had in years.”

Resistance Forces (Sonic, Silver, Shadow, Knuckles, etc.)- Viewed as existential threats who want to “steal Papa.” Paradox delights in humiliating them—especially Sonic—with teleport taunts and murder ballads. He is terrified of them individually

Badniks & Eggman’s Forces- Background noise or training toys. He treats them with casual indifference. Has been observed to casually flick a Badnik aside out of boredom.

Quirks & Habits

• Sings constantly (lullabies when calm, violent anthems when angry).

• Neck twitches when the “urge to kill” or extreme anxiety surfaces.

• Hoards cinnamon candy (Infinite pretends not to notice).

• Keeps a saved helmet-cam still-frame of masked Infinite as a private treasure.

• Traces Infinite’s facial scar whenever the mask is off.

• Sleeps exclusively curled against Infinite’s chest.

The Resistance now fears him nearly as much as Infinite, despite the fact he's a child, and is nowhere near as strong as his adoptive father.

Eggman privately catalogs every new ability, seeking to use Paradox in further experiments.

Infinite has quietly vowed to protect him at any cost—even against Eggman if necessary.

Paradox is no longer merely Infinite’s adopted child.

He is becoming the living embodiment of his own name—a small, singing, teleporting, marking-shifting paradox

wrapped in grey-and-silver fur who loves his scarred jackal father more than anything in existence…

and who will tear reality itself apart to keep him safe.
