If you honestly want to understand more about ideologies, or have lingering doubts about certain ideas, it's ok! Extremely religious/secular societies often try to convince us to agree with everything that they have to say, whether we like it or not, and we ourselves are often guilty of such an act when it comes to a certain viewpoint that we are passionate about. What we often forget, in the midst of "being right", is the empowering sense of self-discovery and the joy of learning.
Being able to learn and think critically and constructively is important in everyone's spiritual growth. A lot of the young today are not encouraged to think for themselves, but to parrot what has been repeated to them. This takes away the individual's drive to use a higher level of logic when it comes to answering life's most difficult questions, because they are so used to being told the answers! Really puts a damper on your sense of self, doesn't it?

I was raised to be a christian, but ever since I was young I've been asking myself why/how things happened in the bible and I asked for so much proof that hasn't been given to me; all they did was tell me "because it did" or "because God said so". Christianity soon became dull and too unrealistic to me, but I couldn't really say that "God" wasn't just real. I soon found out I was agnostic and 'till this day my mom still tries to convert me back in some way, though it looks like she doesn't care. My little sis, tho, is the worst. I once joked that God was a Mary Sue (my biggest mistake, honestly. God is a GARY STU, not a Mary Sue XD) and she began bitching about it and saying that I was disrespecting her beliefs. I was like "wtf". Also, I once read too much creepypasta and had nightmares (it was worth it!). The next day my mom came screaming to me and saying "see?! God exists!!" and I was like "IT WAS A FREAKING NIGHTMARE IT'S NOT LIKE GOD ENTERED MY MIND TO PUNISH ME FOR MY GODDAMN SINS OR SOMETHING!" but she kept on ranting that 'if bad exists then good exists too' or some shit. I had to put up with it and even gave logical explanation to why nightmares happen, but noooooooo my nightmares happened due to GOD because LOGIC, amirite?

Sometimes I ask myself if I was born in the right family or something :v

oh I know how you feel, I was told the same but after I tried being christian I could not get warm with it
I want to find my own story - do whatever you love and live :)
Don´t let yourself down because others tell you something different - it´s also true for them - and what you think is true - is true for you
everyone has their opinions, and when you realize that everybody has no plan for life you´ll get calm and start to seek your own way
noone can tell you what your way is
wish you a nice day!

It's been a year XD my parents don't even bother me anymore and I went from agnostic to atheist, but that still doesn't stop me from having lots of christian friends and going to church with them

Want to here a sad f***ing story?
I question current beliefs about reality, show evidence that maybe matter doesn't exist, evidence for the Law of Attraction, etc. and wanted to express that maybe my soul and spirit isn't human and believe that the spiritual world can be anything,
I was attacked, and abused, and the monsters attacked me by trying to mock me for it as if I was "delusional", etc. for something that nobody knows and having faith for, by adding that to a cyberbullying article about me.

Now I believe that this world is only an illusion even more.

Though on my side, I question other things, and I question idiots who think there is a "legit" spirituality, etc.

I've been questioning if I should be considered Buddhist. My parents insist I am, but I don't know anything about Buddhism. I only know what reincarantion is and that Buddha is a monk(?)

Perhaps this can give you a better insight. Asking questions has a tendency to create more, and there is always someone willing to answer.

Yeah.. I haven't really questioned much about my Islamic beliefs until this past year or so.. The religious school I attended since I was very young basically just threw it in our faces with no real explanation and said: Believe in this. Believe in that. Don't do this. You must do that. And i didn't really question it that much. It was kind of a just "Ok I must do this and don't do that. That's fine" and left it like that.
But my opinions about specific beliefs we are taught to believe have changed. For example homosexuality, music, movies, praying, etc. And i guess it was my oldest sister OmgItsTania that I have to thank, really. She's not as religious as I am, but from time to time, we have deep chats about religion and stuff and she actually tells me her reasons why she doesn't really see anything in specific beliefs and has waken me up slightly to free opinion and stuff.

I've only just seen this... aww. :') We can have another chat about religion some time soon :P

As the OP has said, "Being able to learn and think critically and constructively is important in everyone's spiritual growth" :)

Yeah that'd be awesome even though we'll end up disagreeing on each other because of my unopened mind and your free mind XD

Real faith does not come from mindlessly believing what you are taught, but by thinking about it and finding your own reasons to believe it.

Because, when you question, you can then RESEARCH. And then you can learn MORE about what you believe.

Thank you for this, I was brought up to hate myself for liking other women and for liking sex, so my self esteem has been permanently damaged. And I was so scared to turn away from the religion that made me feel like a worthless pile of trash because I was afraid that I would be punished.

YUP! That's me in a nutshell! It's great, though, to study and research my beliefs to make them even more believable to me, so that I may share it with others. :)
