After a loooong period I finally managed to finish something. Plus I had to draw a fanart for a game called Salt and Sanctuary which stole my heart. I started it a while ago but only managed to finish it now since my semester just ended. Not exactly my best piece but I tried a few new things this time so I like it more than I should.

I decided to draw this moment - my first character Baldwin facing off against the first Bronze Knight in the Village of Smiles because the moment I managed to parry him and get a riposte I knew I was in.

If anyone likes Metroidvania (though it’s definitely more ‘-vania’) and Dark Souls - this game will be perfect for you. Not to mention it seemed a better Souls game than DS3 was. Definitely recommended!

You really managed to capture the gritty tone of the game and the shading on the armor is cool in how simple it is! The cloak too looks nice and detailed and the hands look very well done!
If I'd have to nitpick I think maybe since he seems to be thrusting forward that the cloak would be flowing back behind him because as it is it looks more like he's pulling the halberd backwards judging from the cloak's movement? Or maybe I've got it wrong and he's actually pulling it out?

Other than that it looks really good! Man I remember running into those knights for the first time, ever since playing Dark Souls I had kind of gotten this phobia for big, menacing knights in brownish armor :XD:

Thanks a lot for your comment! It actually made me believe this piece of art is worth something!

In general the armor's pretty simple because there's not that much detail in-game and I kind of wanted to keep that and not just come up with my own stuff. As for the shading - it was the first time I decided to try and match the shading to the material type - as you can see it differs on the armors.

I know the movement is a bit difficult to understand here, in my head he's backing off or moving his torso away while thrusting the weapon forward but in the end I guess it does look like he's pulling it out. I still need to practice my motion so thanks for pointing that out!

And yeah, every Souls-like game needs THAT guy. You know the guy who comes up and is guaranteed to kick your ass if you're playing it for the first time, but once you put him down, hoo boy the feeling's amazing.
