The Kusanagi no Tsurugi by XD-385 The Kusanagi no Tsurugi by XD-385
Yet another blade drawn by my dear friend :iconanubic90: And yes, he gave me permission to upload. Thanks again, friend. Now for a little background of this legendary sword of the Far East.

As Excalibur is to Europe, the Kusanagi is a sword of great importance to the history of the island nations of the Far East. Also referred to as the Grass Long Sword in western dialects. This sword was said to have been found upon the body of the dreaded Yamata no Orochi by the warrior Susano after severing some of its eight heads after he had gotten it drunk with sake. The sword then fell into his possession, but its whereabouts became unknown for centuries after his death.

The Kusanagi was discovered by a nameless man referring to himself as the "High Priest" by unknown means. He used it against Ashton Redford Crimson during a duel, after which it was discarded upon the battlefield. But it was found and recovered by one of many ninja that arrived to aid Ashton against the revived Yamata no Orochi. It was later bestowed upon Ashton as a gift for slaying the vile serpent. While he did attempt to hone his skills with it, Ashton was not able to get the hang of using the Kusanagi and later bestowed it upon his firstborn son, Lucash, after he had graduated as a knight. Lucash proved to be quite gifted with the legendary blade as he used it for decades as a knight. He later returned it to Ashton on his deathbed as it had been originally given to him.

The Kusanagi is a tsurugi, an ancient style of sword dating back to the Bronze Age that was succeeded by the chokuto. It is a straight double-edged sword forged by unknown means. It also lives up to its name of "Grass Long Sword" by having a hilt that is long enough for two hands to grip it and a blade that is somewhat long. It is extraordinarily durable and is sharp enough to cut through iron.

The Kusanagi remains within the Crimson estate within a chest in Ashton's bedroom. Whether or not it will ever see combat again remains to be seen.

I'd have to say that the blade is somewhere around 2 1/2 feet in length, I think. Maybe a little more.
