Straight sword by XD-385 Straight sword by XD-385
I know what you're thinking. And let me be the first to say that it is not what you think it is. That sword is NOT a katana. It is a chokuto. It predated the katana and is perfectly straight instead of curved. Take a closer look. Do you see a curved blade?

To be honest, that blade isn't sharp at all. I know because I tried to cut myself as a test. Although I'm pretty sure it can be sharpened.

I kinda agree with flamingabsol the flash does make it look a bit curved. Nice pic though.

It was given to me by a chef at my dad's restaurant. He knows I like swords, so he picked it up for me. Not sharp, but I think that can be fixed. There's a store nearby that sells knives and kitchen equipment and even sharpens stuff like that too.

Not sure if I will. It might not stay in its scabbard. But I think the tip is capable of impaling if I apply enough force.

Nope. The blade is straight, not curved. It's a chokuto.

The blade is still straight instead of curved. Almost all swords need a point at the end to impale with. That is a chokuto.

That's a ninja's blade. It's realtively short design and straight blade allowed for quick drawing and better indoor use. Plus the added bonus of that it was a heck of alot cheaper to make than a katana and the sheath was easily modified for the purpose of the ninja.

Yeah I got one of those from my cousin for my B-day a few years back but for the life of me I couldn't recall the name.

Oh, it's longer than it looks. And it's meant to be held with both hands. Pretty light, though.

Ah you have the outdoor version of it. Yeah it was made to be light and easily handled. Anyone who wasn't a samurai or nobility had one.
