Hey everybody.
I guess I should maybe make a formal journal entry about this instead of just leaving it.
I haven't been very active on here over the past couple of years(!) and honestly part of that is because I haven't been "arting" much. Most of my deviations over the past two or so years have been just stupid stuff, not really what one would consider "art" I suppose. Amusing, hopefully, but not really art.
The other part is that...well...shit's happened. Life happened. I've grown up, and for the most part I have grown out of deviantART. I've been focusing more on my writing as opposed to my art as of late, and hopefully I'll have a novel published eventually (I'm close to finishing my NaNoWriMo novel). I'll put a link to my Figment and my Wattpad if any of you are still around and want to check that out.
As for the formal goodbye:
I don't know when I'll be back...or if I'll be back. I recently went through this account and deleted a lot of my emotional rants from when I was 14 and h

Thanks for the fave!

and I would just like to say what a nice bow you have! did you carve it yourself? The few times I tried it it didn't work out that well...
So I just shoot my one-piece hunting recurve. That's good enough for me!

NP, and thanks~
Yes, I did carve it myself! A good friend of mine, and a jack-of-all-trades who just so happens to be a wizened old asian man living in the misty mountain reaches, working his craft in a old house with a vibrant garden filled with all maner of plants, medicinal and otherwise, whom you may sometimes catch relaxing on a straw mat whist smoking a pipe carved of cherry and bamboo, filled with his own mixture of myriad flowers and herbs;
he had experimented on his own, learned what he could from the aborigines, (not a lot- much of the knowledge was lost to modernization) and combined that with his own knowledge creating, after time, a fine mastery of the art.
I did ask of him to teach me, and he was kind enough to oblige me, so we went.
Taking wood from the mountain, he guided me in my crafting- stripping the bark, carving the curves, shaping the bow and adjusting it as it settled; making arrows of bamboo and nail, straightening, reinforcing, and binding.
In all, I have made two bows, the latter with almost no assistance, (physical, that is. I did oft consult him on his thoughts) which is in the last stages of polishing- that is, buffing, sealing it with layers of oil, buffing it again, and perhaps carving and imprinting a sigil of copper. It took me about three to four months, visiting him once a week. (shaping of the bow taking at least a month)
I shall post to ye photographs I took of the process.

I'm so sorry i have been so late about replying! I have had so much to do and for some reason my internet has been acting up...

anyway, I would love to see them! just today my neighbor is cutting down an old peach tree and I have managed to acquire some wood that I will hopefully be able to carve.
any pointers and advice you could give would be wonderful~
