My letter from Stephen Fry

The media got hold of this and blew it all out of proportion saying "stephen fry saved my life" I was not suicidal and had no intention of even thinking about it! Bloody media tries to make everything dramatic!!

Basically 2006 is when I was seriously suffering from depression and I felt so alone and as if nobody cared about me, I had no idea who to turn to. But I really needed someone to confide in and to and to ease the pain. So I wrote to Stephen Fry because he is my hero, and he has been through this himself. And low and behold, he replied to my letter, I will love him eternally for this.

I though that I would upload this to give other people suffering from depression a chance to read the letter which helped me so much during the deepest days of my depression.

AW You're so freakin' LUCKY! Because Stephen Fry, one of my favourite actors, replied to a message of yours, that is.

Depression sounds scary, and you're really brave for stepping out and speaking out about this issue :-)

Thank you for posting this. Needed to read something like this tonight. xx
Dear Crystal: I see this is an old post. I came to it from a reference to Fry's letter as someone is writing about #RobinWilliams untimely death (whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.c….
As many people have done, I want to thank you for sharing it! It has certainly opened up my eyes a lot wider than what they were before.
I hope you have found the sun and that all your days are filled with light!

Hello! I realise this was uploaded some time ago, and maybe (hopefully) you've already moved on from that phase of your life but I just wanted to say thank you for putting this letter up at the expense of your own privacy, because it really does help. It is such a very generous sentiment to share something in hopes that other people might find meaning/solace in it, and I really appreciate it. Thank you.

That is amazing. Stephen Fry simply embodies all that is simply and yet deeply humanist.

Oh, the blasted media.

I just noticed the date on the letter. That's my birthday.

stephen fry is the best human on earth
I am glad you got this when you needed it; it is such an inspirational letter, and shows such compassion. Probably why I enjoy Stephen Fry so much. And it too speaks to me on a personal note. I hope that I can do the same for somebody if they need it. And can't help but wish someone had given me this advice many years ago...
I love that he actually answered you. I wish you well :)

That's so wonderful! It shows how much Mr Fry does care.

I'm glad you feel better, too. It's crap, what with the media making such drama, but I'm glad you've gotten over it.
I need to favourite this now, so when I have another batch of depressing feelings, I can just read it and remind myself.

I've received a letter from he recently, he helped me think about a few things in my depressive state.
he also wished me luck in my hopeful acting status.
it was so sweet of him to do that for me, and to send me a signed photo as well. :)

He truly is a wonderful man :) I don't suffer from depression but I have a friend, who I love dearly, who does. He is suicidal and it's getting harder and harder for me to be there for him, this letter has helped. The weather idea is brilliant, even if you don't suffer from depression i's so easy to blame yourself for things that you have no control over. I have no idea how my friend or anyone else might be feeling when they have depression, but this has given me an idea :)

Aww i'm so so glad this has helped you both, I hope your idea works and that your friend feels better soon *hugs*

I hope so to :) He's planning on going and getting help soon, he doesn't want me to come with him because he's so afraid of upsetting me. But i'm going to try and be there for him as much as I can :)

I think that really is touching.
Most people wouldn't write back, or at most write a very generic letter that you could apply to anybody. That is really nice.
