How'd you get colored buttons? I just remembered having them purple and grey.

The North American retail version had the purple and grey buttons, with the grey ones concave and the purple ones convex. However, the European (PAL) ones, as well as the original Japanese ones, had four colors and all the buttons were convex. The main difference between the PAL and Japanese ones is the branding, Super Nintendo Entertainment System vs. Super Famicom. However, the PAL SNES controller retains the Super Famicom icon to the left of the logo, whereas the North American ones don't. You can see all three variations at the bottom of the SNES Wikipedia page.
