Looking back at the sunrise by xalthorn Looking back at the sunrise by xalthorn
The whole idea behind this piece is that of simple reflections. There are three objects in the scene, two spheres and one cube. The smaller sphere is not where it seems to be.

You can see the scene properly in the large sphere, albeit reversed, including the sunrise.

I had to really sit and think about this for awhile. I left it on my dev watch to come back and figure it out, seeing how there are the reflections and only two spheres. You have to look at it in different ways. Pretty neat :)

Phew!

I was wondering if anyone would see beyond the simplicity.

I like the fact that the small sphere looks as though it belongs there, but when you look at the reflection in the big sphere, it becomes clear where it is.

The hardest thing to get right was the position of the cube and the main sphere, to line them up so the reflections were *exactly* on the viewline. It made the cube look transparent so you are left to wonder if the small sphere is behind the cube or elsewhere.

Ah well, at least someone got it :)

Hey, at least you thought about it. I'm guessing most people will look at it and think, 'what the heck is *that* meant to be' and click away.

True, but I guess you just have to ignore those.

That's true... and here's a thought; ignore usually means to disregard someone or something no matter what, while ignorance means for one to disregard things that could be helpful. Funny how those two words, meaning a similar thing, are often used in such different ways. Ah...rew. Just a thought. :)

Hmm, and that from someone who said, and I quote:

'Well don't expect too much deep thought comments comming from me'

That's not exactly shallow thinking, is it ;)
