I know what you're thinking: "Since when did you even say you had a surgery coming up?" I never did because my entire health wheel has been spinning out of control in 2018, so picking one health scare to talk about -- be it mental
or physical -- is like reliving an icky time. I talked about hopefully getting back on board with commissions during Christmas Break because I knew that I'd be okay by then. But
, just in case of (insert whatever giant cock-up here)
, I think I should give an update on how my recovery has been going.Wisdom Teeth Extraction
I recently had four impacted wisdom teeth removed. One had been infected for months due to
being impacted according to my unfortunate miner, but I didn't realize this because I had zero toothaches during all that time. Looking back, I was ill and underwent "traveling" migraines like a mofo so often that I know this pushy little guy had plenty to do with them. Thanks to the fact that I only correlated "wisdom tooth problem" with "dental pain," I only realized something was going on when it shattered.
The other impacted wise guys hadn't surfaced completely, but they were cutting flaps of gum very oddly. Being so far back in my mouth wasn't helpful. The safest option was to remove all of them to prevent further problems. Unfortunately, I fell ill again before my surgery. That caused my weight to dip much, much
lower than what would be ideal for my height, and I was already
on the low end of the spectrum.
I'm pretty sure the wisdom tooth and my high
"dental anxiety" were the culprits. I honestly did not have space for rescheduling this, so I went on with it. I came out of the surgery okay, but the follow-up? Fuck. I'm sorry, kids. I don't mean to curse, but fuck.
I didn't respond well to the antibiotics, which was no one's fault. You don't know what you can't take until your body reacts to it. Sometimes what you could take in the past suddenly becomes incompatible with your system. This incompatibility, compounded with me already being ill and having a lighter stomach than what I needed, almost caused me to black out. I came down with the fever, heart palpitations, chills, body aches, migraines, and nausea all at once, while having my face blow up from the actual surgery, which I was still somewhat bleeding from.
A little tall person like me can not take all that. I threw up my medication and tried to get into the shower, but I couldn't stand for jack, so I just sat under the water in agony. My mother took the reins and tried to help me climb out of it. At that point, I was a noodle. My eyes were rolling back; I couldn't lift my head; I was just a noodly noodle. I don't even remember how we got it all under control.
I remember watching my mother cry because she wanted to take me to the emergency room. That whole day was spent with me not being able to walk or eat the softest food supplements, however. I had to get a different prescription from my sweet tooth fairy, and right now, I'm doing okay on that. I feel good and alive compared to that day. Hungry, too!
This is probably the scariest thing that's ever happened to me, though. Pain and strife are not for me, I tell you. I'm a baby. #wisdomteeth #dental #dentalgag #healthissues #healthcare #scary
