  PAST  

Doug has lived in Wynsiph his entire life, and it's nothing short of a miracle that he was able to move out of his mother's basement and into the Cranny. Albeit, he lives in one of the more dingy rooms that requires a few spare pots and pans to catch any leaks when it rains. He lived with his mom for most of his life, his dad not really being in the picture much aside from stopping by a couple times to show off his new sound stone collection. Doug was always fascinated by this tech, even though Wynsiph was far from using runestones for everyday objects. Still, he kept his dad's one gift of a sound stone headset very close to him. 

Previously living in his mom's basement, Doug learned to live the easy life from his mother's enabling. Basically, having no spine and coddling Doug too much made him quite the slacker. Although she always wanted to see him succeed, she selfishly kept him close to prevent her from becoming a sad old empty-nester. Then one day she got a new boyfriend and he took charge of Doug's slacker situation, finally pushing him into the Cranny. With mild protest, Doug went along with it, realizing he didn't have to listen to his mom nag him anymore. (Not to mention his mom helping to pay rent meant he didn't have to do chores like everyone else. Lol.)

His mom's boyfriend immediately filled Doug's room with his mid-life crises collection of fishing equipment and refurbished sailboats, so now Doug is truly out on his own. 

Yep, that's basically Doug's life. I don't know what you were expecting.

 PERSONALITY  

Doug is... kind of a loser. He's not exactly a self-starter, but he's fun to hang around at least. He attracts wyngrew who want to have a good time, giving them compliments and fun little nuggests of random wisdom. He's very good at listening and absorbing the info that others give him (reading is for chumps). 

To put it simply, there is very little in life that motivates Doug to do more than the bare necessity. He mostly subsides on a diet of junk food and takeout, and always finds ways to bride other tenants of the Cranny to do his chores for him. Doug is always up for hanging out, but rarely at his own expense. Friends will describe him as a chill dude but a mooch, and it's best to keep him at an arm's length.

Besides slouching around, Doug enjoys listening and discovering new music. He keeps a collection of re-usable sound stones of his favorites. His sound stones mean more to him than his own mother does, so he spends a good chunk of his day cleaning and recharging them. As long as you bring him something to trade in return, Doug is happy to let you listen. Doug takes a lot of pride introducing wyngrew to new music, but he'll be a little sad if you don't dig his style.
