My Bio
Okay well to start with I hate to be the wrong side of the camera ... especially when someone else has hold of it and is enticing me to "say cheese" ... so you get a self portrait from my phone camera, softened with GIMP ... that's it ... almost me!

I was written off in Art at school as being unable to draw ... I have crafted things all my life - scrapbooks, greeting cards, textiles ... and at the centre of all this creativity has been my photography, from my Kodak Instamatic to my current collection of 4 different cameras.

No flashy gear; I am on my second manual SLR ... my much loved Chinon gave up after many years service so I bought a Centon DF-300 (being practical it used the same lenses and was cost effective enough to afford to add an extra lens). I also like square format and for landscapes Medium format makes sense but being on a tight budget I could only run to a Lubitel 166 for experimenting.

My second digital bridge camera is my staple ... I bravely took it out of the box and straight off on holiday. I still use it on manual a great deal of the time and have the adapter to take my P-series Cokin filters.

The one camera that is with me 24/7 is my mobile phone ... I have just had an upgrade to Samsung Edge 7 and it has a manual setting (Pro) and shoots RAW ... wow ... oh and I now have a small tripod which does comes out with me and I now have TWO excited photographic assistant pooches! You won't see them in many of the pictures here but they have been sat there with me while I shot endless sunrises and have walked good miles with me to get a new landscape image. One of the pup's first training exercises was to sit still while I messed with a camera.

I will probably stick mainly with photographs here but might add the odd piece of art. More importantly, I will do my best to be an active community member here and welcome constructive feedback on my work as well as questions if you're curious.

Decided it was time for a new self portrait for my deviant profile.  Three years ago I had to have a surgery on my face to remove a basal cell carcinoma and reconstruction; I have been fighting with my feelings about my scars.  They are about as heal...

Okay so I am officially useless at keeping up a journal here! Over the past few years I have stuck with my One Little Word (OLW) each year ranging from "Serenity" through "Reduce" and "Balance" to 2017 it is "ADAPT" So in terms of dA Adapt I have reinstated Core Membership and I have been inspired ( or maybe it is challenged ) to start posting my photos again after a colleague said I could look at his Flickr account if I liked and his photographs pushed my buttons. Off now to catch up on all those I follow and their submissons since I was last here.

Joining Dots

I never really got into journalling here at dA; partly because everytime I want to change the look there are so many skins to choose form I never make a choice and it stays dreary and partly because my photography and painting stalled at the end of 2011. 2012 was an up and down year for me - frantically busy doing a job I loved in an organisation I didn't love so much; keeping friends afloat who were putting less into the friendship than they were taking; supporting my parents through a couple of health scares and a house move; and then in the Autumn approaching being redundant, worn out and stressed.  I decided to make a journey to rediscov
