the thousands of miles i went when i thought
the world made sense...
when my heart wasn't so shattered
when i had unerring faith in you
when time was my friend again...
the journey was for nothing and i am left by the
side of the road with my heart in my hands
dripping in the dust at my feet
drops that ripple the dust like water
i packed my faith in a box and packed it away
never to be seen again
its tattered and thread bare any way
the knife came back to plead for my pity
after the damage it did, like nothing happened
as if it didn't matter i was bleeding
and i turned away with my faith in tatters
in the closet
my heart in my hands dripping as i walked away
the pleading in the air became fainter
going unheard

| Never sure what to say about myself in these things. I'm a professional student working my way to becoming a teacher as well as a student. I'm from the New England area of the US. I can't remember when I first fell in love with expressing myself through the written word but I'm thankful it happened. I joined Deviant art at first so I could admire the work of others and have even been inspired by their work. That's part of why I decided to begin posting my work here, to honor that inspiration. |
