The sun was a shy ember behind a veil of grey clouds, and the fields were a bleached husk of the green they would one day become. In a hollow at the base of the ancient Oak of Dawn, a tree older than the mountains themselves, lived a small, silver‑furred rabbit named Liora. She was the youngest of a long line of “Moonwatchers,” rabbits who spent their nights perched on the oak’s low branches, listening to the faint music of the world’s heartbeats. Their ears were tuned not only to the rustle of leaves but also to the subtle sighs of the Earth.
