You must be reading my mind. I've been wanting to draw a black leopard for a while, but I had trouble finding a captivating photo for a reference. I don't know why I didn't think of you. So thanks for posting this beauty and reminding me! May I use it for a reference? It will be my first drawing on a black paper, so something quite new and exciting.

Nice photo of the panthers from the Tierpark.
Currently, however, you will see almost no big cats there and the panthers will probably never come back.

Oh, what's going on there? The Tierpark Berlin had always a lot of big cats, even tiger offsprings last time i visited Berlin.

From the cats are currently still there, Java-Leopard but no longer visible to visitors, Sumatra-Tiger as well. On display are Indochinese (actually Malay) tigers, Siberian tigers, snow leopards and cheetahs. How long the Siberian Tigers are still to be seen there I cannot say, since these are to move into the zoo Berlin.
The Alfred Brehm House will be converted from a pure cat house into a South East Asia House, which will be accessible again sometime in 2019. The entire zoo is being transformed from a systematic zoo into one of today's most popular geo-zoos.
Eventually there will be lions again, probably next on a new enclosure and then African and no more Indian. The snow leopards will move to the mountain, the Siberian tigers can hope for a new enclosure sometime, just like the Chinese leopards, Amur leopards will probably not exist again. Then the puma will come back sometime, currently they live in the zoo of Plzen. At last there could be Jaguars again sometime. Those of Tierpark now live in Santiago de Chile.
The enclosures were no longer up to date and did not meet current requirements. But for me it was even more important that the keepers had very good contacts to the animals. Animals in captivity change their social behaviour very much. For me personally, grids are also better than glass panes, so you have the more direct contact with cats. None of it's gonna happen again.

thank you for lovely and detailed explanation!

I know! :cries: :cries:
I will miss them terribly, but I am happy at the same time, as I really did not feel comfortable about those rather old cages.
New habitats will be surely more natural and suitable fot the cats.

However I will the black cats :(
