Only a Shadow
In the Light of Dawn
Sweet Distorted Dreams (the Shadow Council Arc)A hair-raising tingle passed through the air in the shadowed halls where strode Lutero Thorne. Just to the side of him, embers of light winked into existence, swarming and clustering into a shape... and then dissipating to reveal a person. A familiar one at that.
Lutero had only a fraction of a second to react as Aranya collapsed right next to him, nearly hitting the floor but for the fact that he caught her just in time. The air around her reeked of raw fel power. Her breaths were coming in hard and ragged. One of her sleeves had somehow been completely torn away, leaving her whole arm and shoulder bare. Other sections of her robes had been utterly rent as well, and there were lacerations on what he could see of her side, back, shoulder, and part of her neck, where a section of her hair seemed to have been torn or burned away.
Aranya blinked at Lutero, eyes struggling to focus. "Rhovin..." she gasped, chest heaving.

Old HabitsSunlight and shadows moved over the forest floor in shifting patterns. The golden leaves of the trees swayed in the lightest breeze, breathing its way over the wooded landscape. There were clouds in the sky playing cat-and-mouse with the sun, adding to the changing of the shadows and light through the trees. There was a soft silence that pervaded the area. She had responded too quickly to make anyone think they
The Maid and the King Chapter 2“Prince Anduin? Wyll sent me here to collect your things.”
You were trying not to let your excitement show so openly, trying to keep your smile toned down instead of the grin you had as you raced through the halls when you received the news of your position.
The head maid assigned you to assist Wyll Benton, Anduin's personal servant who had been since his birth and before then to the other kings.
Wyll was growing older but insisted he never needed help until he almost hurt himself picking up laundry.
So you were there as the laundry maid.
Prince Anduin sat on his bed, putting on his coat with a similar smile on his face. Was he just as excited as you were?
“Please. When it's just the two of us, call me Anduin. Here. Let me join you.”
You couldn't help but blush, scared to say it was alright and that you could take everything but when Anduin stood from his bed, you could only nod.
This started to be the norm for you.
Coming in the morning, afternoon and night to
