Squire Training - Day One by WorldsEdge Squire Training - Day One by WorldsEdge
A sketch I made in 2012 for publication in The Crown Prints. I actually came up with the idea a few years ago, but never got past the planning stage. I wanted to symbolize a child's play as the first step on the long path to adult competency. And, of course, to highlight the importance of children in the SCA.

Historically, there's no way a child this small would be formally called "squire" regardless of station -- Maybe "page," at best -- but I figure even then, a knight would hope their son would grow up like papa and call him "my little squire".
