Hello everyone, and I hope you're having a great weekend so far.
For those of us in the northern hemisphere, we find ourselves with a couple of good reasons to stay at home. The pandemic, of course, and the turn of the seasons. Since it's getting so cold and rainy out there, a lot of us are staying indoors.
That means keeping ourselves occupied, and for writers, that often means getting creative. That's why I'd like to offer my latest blog post for you guys to read.
It's about colour and how it occurs in animals. We see colour in fictional characters all over the place - pink-haired anime girls, dragons, and the anthro community is rich with 'sparklepups'. So I did a spot of research on how these colours occur.
I hope this article proves helpful to you guys, and that you're all keeping yourselves healthy - emotionally and physically.

Word-Smiths is not an exclusive group. We do, however, want your best work. We want poetry and prose that says something -- tells a story; evokes a mood or memory; stirs an emotion; takes readers out of themselves. Please read the guidelines for joining and submitting before submitting to the group.

To join, you need at least three pieces of literature in your gallery.

Submissions are limited to three per week. Only members of the group may submit work. Please submit to the appropriate folder, and please don't submit to Featured. Please don't submit PDFs; many people, including some of the group admins, can't read them. We also don't accept journals.

Poetry: We look for a number of things when reviewing poetry. Meter, metaphor, alliteration, personification, and/or rhyme, for example, can all be used to aid effective delivery, interpretation, and readability and can heighten sheer reading pleasure. Fixed form in particular should have a consistent rhythm, where appropriate, and free verse should flow easily. Imagery can add to a piece, and we do look for it, especially when used in unusual ways.

Prose: We accept work in most genres, though not erotica or fanfiction. With prose, especially, it's important to edit your work for content, grammar, punctuation, and format.

Declines: If your work is declined, we are not obligated to give you a reason. We have attempted that in the past with nasty and negative results.

:new: We will not be accepting works that include, allude, or are in favor of violence, abuse in any form, and minor related illegal activities. If you are unsure of anything surrounding this, please do not hesitate to send us a note. We'd be happy to assist.

Please note that this list is not exhaustive. It is simply intended as a guideline.

Your friendly neighborhood admins, at your service.

Why did you reject all three submissions? Have you no sense of humour? I replied to the submissions, nothing.

Thank you for requesting "ghosts arrive..."
Maybe I should spend less time on FB
and more time poetizing?
