The Strong by woopidoo2 The Strong by woopidoo2
Full View.

I hope you've all had a great 2008 :)

But, life continues and I my first upload from '09 isnt that happy.

Here's the only photo that I will upload from my grandmother's funeral. I initially didnt plan on uploading a single one, but this one tells a story.

Its supposed to be a dark scene, it was quite depressing to stand there while it was snowing.
Also note the reaching hand at the left.

EDIT:

Wow, my first DD here at Deviantart :)

I dont know what to say, I'm glad that I get noticed like this.

Pay your grandparents a visit while they're still here, and ask them what you want to know about them and their lives. I lost 3 of them in 1,5 years, you never know when they will pass away.

The Strong by =woopidoo2 s really dark, sad and full of emotion. The snow falling down from the sky, people with dark colored clothes and the faces, all represent the really sad situation and event. =woopidoo2 has captured the moment really nicely with this shot. - words by runemetsa ( Suggested by MikkoToivonen and Featured by Helewidis )

very profound in its tonally subdued capture...

peace 2 U... I suspect that your Grandma would feel honoured if she was able to see the shot...

I just came back from my own Granny's funeral, only a few hours ago. I loved her very much and we had one fine party celebrating her exuberant and amazing life.

The snow really does it. And the faces... really hit home. I think most of us remember exactly how that feels. Thank you for sharing your grief.

I wish I could. Neither of my grandfathers will really talk much about their lives. They were both involved in WWII and neither of refuse to talk about anything relating to that time and their lives in general. They prefer to live in the present and not remember the past. I wish they would change their mind cause I love talking to the older generation because they know so much more then we could ever wish to know in our short years of life. I am sorry for the lose of your grandmother. I am 26 years old and I have had to bury 31 people including my father and my fiance. Death is easy. We have no reason to fear it because it is destined to happen to us all no matter if we are homeless on the streets or billionaires in 500 million dollars mansions. It is the loss of that person that those left behind that causes so much pain.

Congrats on the DD!

I know how you feel. I loved my grandmother the most, and she died exactly four years ago (it was 4 years yesterday). And that event was followed, less than two years later, by my doggie's death. And 6 months after that, both my grandpa and my dad died, at a two weeks distance. Half a year after that, the only great-grandparent I still had, passed away too. It's quite hard, but I guess it's part of life's learnings.

Luckily I was very much in touch with my grandparents, and I'm happy I was... but I miss them so much (especially my granny, who was the best in the world).

All my best to you...

This happened to me last year, or in 2008. It was snowing, we were on a hill, and we said goodbye to my grandma for the last time... We were told not to look back, or her spirit won't wanna leave. I miss her so much...

I'm sorry for your grandparents. I lost 3 of them in less than 2 years, just like you...my beloved grandfather died in December and, like you, I miss them a lot but we must keep on and improve reality, no matter what it takes. I know the feeling, it's something you feel like a punishment of reality but sadly though it's natural.

The photo is really emotional and stands out as one of my favorite for January. Congratulations for receiving a DD for this work. :peace:

So emotional...amazing!
My grandmother died about two weeks ago, two days before New Year's Eve, and you're right when you say to pay a visit while our grandparents are still here.
I've never really realized that before such a tragedy...
