It's sometimes said that even well explored locations can hold their fair share of secrets... well that phrase turned out to be a little more literal than some vikings bargained for when the Frosty Nightshrike was discovered. This dragon was discovered by accident when a cave in inside the Ice Tunnels at Icestorm Island exposed a previously hidden cave network where the dragons had been living. This dragon, like some other hybrids, multiple chimeragon variants, and even a few species of regular dragon, demonstrates multiple different types of firepower, these consisting of superchilled blasts that freeze pretty much anything they come in contact with, the typical plasma blast associated with the Night Fury and its hybrids, and lightning. All of these fire types are naturally aimed with the pinpoint accuracy typical of the strike class. The Frosty Nightshrike also has a naturally low body temperature, causing it to favor its cold, icy firepower. This dragon is suprisingly stealthy considering the variable blotches, spots, and patches of black and blue tinting its scales. While unable to perfectly blend into any environment without cloaking, the Nightshrike still does a good job at sneaking around undetected. This is aided by the dragons feet containing fatty pads that muffle the sound of its footsteps, and by the Frosty Nightstrike having wings built to muffle the sound of their own flaps. They can cloak by firing their own lightning or plasma blasts and flying straight through them in a similar manner to the Light Fury or the Night Light. Additionally, the Frosty Nightshrike is capable of generating an electrical field similar to that used by the Skrill, and rapidly blasting that field outwards in a rapidly expanding bubble that's powerful enough to electrocute most other dragons and knock them out of the sky, stun entire schools of fish, or even knock out entire longships worth of vikings. The Frosty Nightshrike, like the Groncicle, is cold enough that it can freeze the water around it when it swims, which effectively affords it another method of trapping and/or killing aquatic prey. A whole flock working together has been seen to freeze entire pods of whales solid, enjoying the frozen remains once they start to slowly thaw out and/or wash ashore. This dragon is surprisingly strong for its size, being capable of lifting dragons that are multiple times heavier than it, such as Gronckles and Hideous Zipplebacks. They are also easily strong enough to carry multiple people on their backs or in their claws- even juvenile Nightshrikes have been observed lifting adult vikings and carrying them short distances with some difficulty. This species is also, unsuprisingly, more than durable enough to crash into an ice wall at full speed and keep flying as if nothing had happened. Being at least potential wielders of electricity, Frosty Nightshrikes are also specifically capable of absorbing large electrical discharges without taking much damage, although this can potentially cause their body to superheat and temporarily prevent them from using their preferred fire type. The Frosty Nightshrike is capable of eating snow and ice, a rare behavior that it shares with the Groncicle, and which likely helps them generate their signature low temperature firepower. This species also has retractable teeth. Bizzarely, said teeth are only visible in the dragon's lower jaw, and are replaced by a hard, sharp, nonretractable beak on the upper jaw. The Frosty Nightshrike is by nature, a very friendly species, with overall playful, investigative behavior. This species is also highly sociable, regularly living in large, loose flocks that will readily hunt, play, defend themselves, or otherwise work together... often without an alpha dragon to lead the flock. The Frosty Nightshrike is also generally helpful to those who treat them with respect, but will grow skittish and wary, or turn aggressive against those who betray their trust or otherwise disrespect them. Nightshrikes can also hold grudges against known enemies, even to the point of trying to act on those grudges years later and/or going to great lengths to pursue and destroy their enemies. This dragon can be trained if the potential trainer treats them with enough respect, saves the dragon's life, and/or saves the life of a flockmate.
