Description:

Also known as the Cave Lion, Panthera Spelaea went extinct as recently as 13,000 years ago. This European predator is thought to be the ancestor of the closely related American Lion, ranging from Western Europe all the way to Eastern Beringia, serving as an apex predator across the Mammoth Steppe. Unlike modern African Lions, male Cave Lions lacked manes- or at most had very small manes.
