Edwin Murray (Of MCM Fame)

Yes, I forgot to make a reference sheet for Edwin Murray before adding him in. That's partially because he had no cannon appearance to work off of when I first added him in due to Secret of the Mimic not being out yet. Now that it's been out for months, and images of Edwin's cannon appearance have been circulating around the community, I finally sat down and made his ref sheet. He basically keeps his cannon workaholic personality from SOTM... I bet that if he didn't have to fulfill basic needs like eating, drinking water, sleeping... he wouldn't- he'd just work on mascot costumes, puppets, and animatronics all day and all night! Of course this is frustrating to his friends and family- they have to remind him to actually take time off, go home and spend time with his family, give himself time to recover when he's sick... he basically thinks that MCM can turn a profit off of liberal amounts of elbow grease and sweat alone. Also, he would sound like his cannon counterpart, so if he had a voice actor, Jim Meskimen would be reprising his role as Edwin.

The fact that Edwin comes from a town of conservative Mormons bothers him a lot, especially given that it's a small, sleepy town with few large businesses and even less excitement. This is why he's super interested when the word gets out that outsiders have started moving into the town and are jump starting their own businesses, like Fredbear's Family Diner. Interacting with people like William Usnavi Afton and Jeremy Fitzgerald basically gives Edwin the opportunity to walk a mile in borrowed shoes, and sounding boards for wacky new ideas that most people who grew up in Hurricane would have shot down, which is also why he develops a super close friendship with people like them, to his father's chagrin. Edwin, being Edwin, does not always have good ideas, though... Big Top being a literally major case in point. Edwin's bad ideas that actually come to fruition, like Big Top, are just about as bad for MCM business as his lack of experience actually negotiating business deals. The latter of course earns him a deal with the devil- I mean with William George Afton- who basically hands him a deal that will come back to haunt Murray's Costume Manor come Secret of the Mimic.

As for his relationship with his father, well... Edwin's father Edward Murray is very much your typical strict, religious Mormon, being an elder in the local church as well as the head of a factory (at least until he gives the factory to Edwin or dies.) Edward being who he is, more or less wanted Edwin to be an almost exact clone of him, which is why he and Edwin have a... rocky relationship at best. Edwin does not follow his father's splinter sect faith anywhere nearly as closely as his dad, for example being content with just one wife and one well cared for child. He may also be persuaded to go on vacations far from home and exposed to brand new cultures and new experiences by his best friends and family...
