As wrote before will be from time to time posting stuff from [link] I do there.

Here forked original work [link]
Rewrote bunch of stuff, added interface, worked out what was wrong with showing spectrum of music.
Overall just playing with streaming music from various services for music visualization experiments :) This time it is AudiTool [link]
Also played with bit-101 minimal comps for interface.

Hehe :)

Well at the moment I am slowly trying to make a halt time work schedule at home. Have few things to play with with notion of making games on them later but my current interests are in little bit different direction. Will see.

Also for the summer I mostly plan pay more attention to some other sides of life too, some sports, friends, travel etc.

So that and slowly growing my productiveness and passion to some things back :)

2122, sandbox violation, plugin crashed on computeSpectrum =(

Afair you cannot do computeSpectrum sometimes, if you do not have the policy file, although you loaded the music successfully, not sure though.

It can happen if you have some audio somewhere else in Flash too, youtube open? Music in banner? Etc... Its not about music in this thing, it should work fine.

hmm, that's right, the security spans across all instances of FP.
However, I tried again and failed again. (no other tab, no other flash running)

full message (loosely translated to English)
---
SecurityError: Error #2122: sandbox violation: SoundMixer.computeSpectrum: [link] cannot access [link] A policy file is required, the flag checkPolicyFile has not been set when the file got loaded
at flash.media::SoundMixer$/computeSpectrum()
at Audiotool/frame()

As you can see, it is about music.

Ou, thanks. Yeah seems there is an error.
Ok then I need more info from you. What OS you use, browser? If FireFox, do you have FireBug, can you check if it tries to access this policy file: [link]

FF 4.0.1
FP 10,2,159,1
Win 7

I'm not a web developer guy so I don't have firebug, but I always wanted to install it one day as it is a handy tool.

I installed it now, but I couldn't find out how to monitor the networking yet.
The problem is, when the error pops up, FF completely freezes for about 10 seconds, then the plugin is crashed and FF comes back to live.

quite odd

Okay, you need to open it, there is Net tab. Click it, then click on triangle on that tab button that appears when you choose it and select "enable".
Now refresh the page, you should see all request done by page start to show up there.
Select HTML sub tab to filter out images and stuff. Only html/xml stuff should be left. Somewhere towards the end there should be crossdomain.xml, when you roll mouse over it it shows link from where it was requested.

For me at the end it does request crossdomain from amazon server that allows it to access sound data for spectrum. Hmm, though sometimes it seems songs starts playing before it loads so that's probably what causes an error... Will need to fix it. Probably this is the real problem.

About Firefox, since 3.6 version they ruined Flash sadly :( They tried to put it to separate thread you can see in processes called plugin-container. Good idea but their implementation sucks... Flash become unstable and completely unusable if you have developers version. I now use Chrome for extensive development for that reason :(
Otherwise FF still, many extensions just rule :D

Thank you for the intro, I finally had the time to try it again.

Ok, here's what happens:
- the flash shows up and starts playing music.
- It tries to request the crossdomain.xml
- the error pops up, music keeps playing, FF freezes.
- FF comes to life again: the timeline of the crossdomain xml request shows up
- answer of the request is empty
- in the xml tab: (again: translated to English)

---
XML-parsing error: no element found at adress: moz-nullprincipal:{7af88ce2-3cd8-419d-898d-5e26f8af820b} line Nr. 1, column 1:

^
---

- it tries to load the xml file several times.

I once wrote an email to a guy who had an error on his website. He replied and told me it was his twitter reader who had trouble with the xml that it was loading, there was some character in front of the first xml tag, which cause the trouble.
I guess this is the same with your case.
notice the "^" at the end of the message.

===

oh dear, yes, FF sucks with Flash.
I had the Incubator for a while, but it was a nightmare.
Everything threw errors.

I'm not sure about chrome with all the bad news about google.
But well, I have an android phone, so they probably already know everything about me =D

Hmm, so there is some error loading crossdomain for you? Curious... Works fine for me.

Hmm what kind of news on Google? That they collect and use a lot of info?

Aha awesome, though the link to original doesnt work.
But I like what you got here, very clean, but one thing I'd say from my experience working with music apps, knobs go vertical instead of horizontal. c;

Fixed it :) Just "," ended up as part of the link...
Interface actually is like that because of UI lib used rather then much of my effort :) My main interest was to try and develop an interface based on that undeveloped API audio tool uses.

Hmm, vertical, why? I am kind of more used adjusting volume by horizontal moments. By default Knob is controlled by vertical axis. I also wonder why they are not used with just position of cursor in relation to center of the knob.

Hah, I don't know you man, personally I hate working with anybody else's scripts, ah but I'm such a basic programmer. xD
Well anyway, I'm just saying pro apps using vertical, been learning programming there myself and thats the way.

Its not mine, you seem not to checked links. Its just a test of AudioTool site API, its site where they make music in a browser and share it, kind of like DA for music probably. They have an API in a very early stage that allows to get list of songs and stream them. Just played with making interface for it and exploring how to get access to sound spectrum of such streamed from other domain music.
Doing it all for future music visualization things.
So music is not mine :)
