Maid of the Mist Tilt Shift

I have a preoccupation with tilt shift photography, and put the effect on a picture I took at Niagara falls in July.

This effect seemed fitting to me, because you really do feel TINY when you're down there on the ship riding up to the falls.

Thanks!

Yeah, I really like that tilt shift effect too. I keep trying to figure out something else to use the effect on now.

Woaaaaaah! I've seen lots of tilt-shift photography and done some myself, but this one's particularly very well made! Excellent job, Dookie! The water looks almost plastic-like!

haha. Thank you very much. I didn't even intend it to be a tilt shift when I first took the picture, but it really seemed appropriate.

I just featured this in my December Photography Feature! ♥

Why thank you so much! It looks a little out of place among all of those photographs taken by people who know what they are doing. haha

 It's beautiful, don't shortchange yourself!

Thank you much! It seemed pretty appropriate to do the tilt shift, since it makes you feel SO tiny to be down there on that boat.

i agree :P i still can't manage too achieve this effect in photo shop. my first attempt looked like there was something smudged on my camera lens. ha

How about compositing a pair of giant fingers to the top right of the picture? That would really sharpen the illusion...
WonderDookie's avatar
Yeah. I've seen a couple of times where people have done that... it ends up looking kind of strange actually.

Maybe a big rubber duck?
wingsofwrath's avatar
Oh, that would be great.

Ladies and gentlemen, in the blue corner, weighing in at 74tons, the challenger, Maid of the Mist V! (boo, hiss!)
Aaaaand in the red corner, the undefeated champion en titre, the one, the only, Giant Rubber Ducky! *wild cheering*

I think with a big huge rubber duck it might kind of look like they are both being flushed down the toilet though. haha. But then that could be really funny.

In that case maybe you should add a toilet bowl sanitizer tablet and a toilet brush rather than a duck...
WonderDookie's avatar
hahaha. That's a damned good idea.
