Note: So this story is a little overdue to be told. This is the time my friend and I got lost not once but twice and stayed in a car for far too long.
So, my good buddy:
HD00ley has a younger brother...an annoying younger brother, who just got a job over on a rig that's roughly 10 hours away. The brother doesn't have a car so he gets
HD00ley to take him. And instead of him going alone he asks me to ride with him. Being a good friend I said yeah. <----(I didn't know it at the time but I will regret this decision)
So we actually had to go somewhere else before he headed to the rig. And that ride took an hour, then we waited in the car for 2 hours. Then we had to go all the way back to the house that added an hour. Then it took 10 hours to get to the rig, but we gotten lost..this would be the first time we get lost. We are lost about three hours. We give up the cause at this point it is 5 in the morning. We go to a rest area and sleep till ten. The annoying brother is still with us. This dude is one of those people that love arguing it doesn't matter what. He would argue with you why the sky is blue. Or the opposite of what you say. We went at it a few times.
So we finally make it to the right rig...the only thing is that they are moving it. It's 12ish now. We are waiting cause the brother's friend said to follow a truck. Well...Mr impatient couldn't wait so he said we should just try to find it on our own, by following the GPS. That's how we got lost the first time. But instead of putting his foot down,
HD00ley does follow the GPS again. And we just drive. Backroads. And more back roads. Somehow we.get into the desert. Instead of being smart and turning around as
HD00ley and I said to, Brother didn't want to and said that it's just around the corner. We were passing brushes, we even saw a coyote run in front of us. At one point we decide that we do need to turn around but it was mainly due to that we came to a dead end. And my friend ended up running over a brush like seriously bad, scratched up his whole car, we didn't even check for damages that happened underneath.
So we are going and going and we come across this different rig. There was only one guy there and he gave us directions to a 'way' we could get there and a WAY to get back to the MAIN road with blacktop. But brother said we should take the 'way' to the rig, my friend at this point was very frustrated, I was too. So we continue more. And get even further from any civilization. So at this point, it has to be around 3 or so. We ended up going back to the main road. We are on blacktop, oh my gosh it was such a relief. We finally make it to the rig and for some reason, brother didn't want to get his stuff from the car put it where he needed to. So we had to stay there for an extra 15 minutes while they decided what to do with him because he got there too late to work since they are setting up a new rig and the rooms or houses that they sleep in weren't up yet.
So FINALLY finally we are making our way back home. Get n the highway BOOM traffic... for three hours. The only reason I know the exact time is because of the podcasts we listened to. We finally get back on track but get short stopped again because we had to take a bathroom break and stopped at a rest camp. It was actually a pretty cool on it had information about space, but while I was there, there were other people that were stuck in the same traffic and were talking about why it even happened. They said it was because someone got into a wreck, but there weren't any cars when we passed that seemed like there was one but you know it is possible that they cleaned it up pretty fast.
So you know I guess you can look at us getting lost in the desert help prevent us from being in the wreck as well. I mean the time frame add up to that.
Just a quick math check: Okay, guys so it took us 10 hours to get there, we got lost the 1st time which added 3 hours, up to 13 now. We rest for 5 hours, making 18, we ate and drove around adding 2 hours, were up to 20 now, we were lost in the desert for at least 3 hours (that math comes from the fact we got to the right rig at a little past 4 pm) So 23 hours so far
then we get stuck in traffic for another 3 hours... 26. The traffic happened just a little ways from the actual rig so we hardly killed any time back to home, so +10 hours for the trip back that 36, and lets not forget the time my friend and I had to set in the car when brother was getting his check up done, which was 2 hours and another 2 hours for the trip back and forth to their house. Coming to a total of 40. Trust me guys I am all up for road trips and what not but I am not about that getting lost life, I can deal with traffic because at least you know where you are.
