:work: Hello Witchers,

time to talk about rules and regulations. We have just taken a look to the latest version of DeviantArt Policies, regarding the copyright and license permission (rule #193 help.deviantart.com/193/). We have just edited our group rules, refurbishing on it, because we thought that it wasn't very clear in the former version (and in fact it wasn't very clear to us, too).

:bulletpink: Witcher DamNation's rules (update)  witcher-damnation.deviantart.c…;

Since this is basically a group of fanarts and fans, it is better to state loud and clear what is allowed and what not, in order to respect DeviantArt rules first, and in general the copyright rules. There won't be any witch hunt, for sure, we have no intention and no time to patrol the entire gallery and check out all the submissions to be "within the lines". But we have decided to do a little of more careful moderation regarding future submissions, especially when wallpapers, screenshots, any other digital work using CD Projekt RED materials, or anything which does not belong to you exclusively are submitted.

:pointr: As for a general rule regarding submission to this group, it is very important that you add a blurb into the comment, specifying who is the owner of the copyright and rights of the subject you are using into your artwork .

It means than when submitting an artwork of any kind (fan arts included) you should specify that the characters\subject your work is about do not belong to you, in this form:

:star: (if it's a fanart about The Witcher videogames) The Witcher ® is a trademark of CD Projekt RED S. A. The Witcher game © CD Projekt RED S. A. All rights reserved. The Witcher game is based on a novel of Andrzej Sapkowski. All other copyrights and trademarks are the property of their respective owners :star:

or

:star: (if it's a fanart about Sapkowski's saga) Wiedźmin - The Witcher - is copyright of Andrzej Sapkowski. All other copyrights and trademarks are the property of their respective owners :star:

or
:star: (If it's an artwork inspired by The Witcher videogames and\or Sapkowsky's novels) Characters included in this artwork are from The Witcher ®, a trademark of CD Projekt RED S. A. The Witcher game © CD Projekt RED S. A. All rights reserved. The Witcher game is based on a novel of Andrzej Sapkowski. All other copyrights and trademarks are the property of their respective owners :star:

We won't check here, neither block or reject any of your artworks of this kind. Bu we are asking YOU to do this, in order respect DeviantArt rules and have less troubles. Your admins :iconsecondchildrenasl: and :iconsoukyan: will check the gallery time to time, and if we see that there is no copyrights blurb like this, we will ask you to add it. If you refuse to add it, we are allowed to reject your submission, until you add the blurb. Sorry for this, but really can't help it!

:gallery:

:bulletgreen: Regarding wallpapers, screenshots, photomanipulations or other works using CDP RED materials: This unfortunatly requires a special treatment and this is why Soukyan and secondchildrenASL will do a stronger moderation. Any submission of this kind will be reviewed and approved by the admins. When submitting your artworks, you should be sure that you have asked and own the permission to use CD Projekt RED material, specifying or attaching that written permission into the blurb and the add the credits about copyright, like already said above. Admins are allowed to ask you to add that blurb, and possibly reject any submission without that permission or credits.

Now don't get me wrong , I know that this is truly (and stupidly) annoying, and adds too many limits and limitations to our group, to the community in general and to you as artists \ fans of the game.

:bulletblue: What's CD Projekt RED general statement regarding permission to use their material?
CD Projekt RED statement helps us a lot here, cause they've already stated that "as long as your work is fully credited" you have the permission to use any screenshot and wallpaper as you like (WARNING: only if not for commercial use!) Unfortunately there is nothing written that can be quoted here, and it's insane that we ask you to contact CDP RED everytime, flooding them with requests of permission and so on. So I'm going to ask to CD Projekt RED to publish somewhere, writing black on white, this statement (or possibly link it to us) in order to quote it any time is needed into the comment to your submission.

Until we don't have that clear CD Projekt permission, please, at least credit them into your submissione, in the form explained above, especially when using wallpapers, screenshots and any other artworks including The Witcher material:

:star: (if it's a fanart about The Witcher videogames) The Witcher ® is a trademark of CD Projekt RED S. A. The Witcher game © CD Projekt RED S. A. All rights reserved. The Witcher game is based on a novel of Andrzej Sapkowski. All other copyrights and trademarks are the property of their respective owners :star:

Just for the record this blurb unfortunately IS NOT sufficient to DeviantArt Policies!. You still need the owners permission to be absolutly and legally in peace with copyright and the world!

I say this just because you need to know!

Any question, comment or rant, go ahead! we are here to listen!

Happy witchering!

Me either. I do not use that form, I use a shorter one like: "this stuff is copyright CDP RED, all rights reserved" or "all the rights belong to the respective owners"....

I put it as an example there for people who do not know how to add the credits.

(F... this silly rule!)

I always write about this (author, title of book/novel - if I illustrate specific scene) under my witcher's arts. Should I write this claim (above) in this specific form?

Not necessary it was just a sample. You can express it as you like. I also do not use this blurb, but another shorter. No prob :)

And if dA (mind you, we are part of the Witcher World created, thus we are in same boat with you), by some chance, warns you somehow about what you did and why you don't have permissions and etc etc (until you get them or until our Admit gets it for us all), do defend yourself, to be safe, take down the art for that moment, but do explain them that the creators of this amazing thing do know what we all are doing and they do approve to what we are all doing. Afteral, it's a promotion to them, bigger than any money could buy (for I assume it wasn't just me who bugged all friends to read/play the witcher :D )
