Lacie
Female · Crafter · Cat Lady

Just an American girl living in Germany with the love of my life and our three furbabies. I love all things crafty, but sculpting and sewing are what I enjoy most! Aside from art, I love playing video games, photography, and travelling. I also like 80's music, hockey, and tattoos. :dummy:

I wouldn't ask to see your patterns, that's like asking a chef for his secret recipe, but I will ask, can you point to any good resources to help me learn how to make such amazing plushies? I made a plushie for my friend around a year ago, and I think it was really amazing for a first try, but I didn't know how to make great patterns, or embroider the eyes, mouth, etc. I really enjoyed it all though.
If you have anything at all, I would appreciate it very much.

I'd definitely recommend browsing Etsy for patterns! There are plenty of simplistic patterns on there that will give you a basic idea of how they go together and you can put some of that knowledge towards making your own once you have a general understanding. There are some free ones out there too, but I've come to prefer paid ones since they're generally better. SewDesuNe also has a bunch on her blog (some quality free ones included) that have helped me in the past. Nazegoreng also has lots of great video tutorials available to purchase that explain some of the basics!

As far as embroidery, you can get a hoop and some embroidery floss and do it by hand, but I lost my patience for that very quickly and just bought a machine to do the work for me so I can't really offer much advice there, lmao.

Thank you very much for the response! ❤
I will definitely check all of that out!
I tried using an embroidery hoop in the past, I just need to practice more, hehe. My real problem is my lack of good equipment and my limited knowledge on designing patterns.
I looked at embroidery machines online and the first one I saw was $15000!!! Do you know of any good ones that don't cost more than every car I've owned combined? Hahaha

It takes a lot of practice, I envy the people who can hand embroider nicely lol. Machines can really get up there in price (that's crazy!) but there are some affordable ones out there! They're still a bit on the expensive side compared to sewing machines, but there are some basic models in the $350-$500 range. I have a Brother Innovis 97E which was the very cheapest I could find here in Europe, but I know there are some other good brand name models in the States. If you do a search on Amazon for embroidery machine, there are lots of well-rated machines for decent prices! :D
