I've decided to stop paying for a premium membership because I haven't gotten a single comment on any of my stories. I have submitted them to a decent amount of groups, so I'm guessing that people out there either don't have time to critique them or simply aren't interested. I was recently able to find a discussion board for amateur syfy and fantasy writers where you can ask writing questions and get critiques for free. I posted something and had 10-15 thoughtful replies in about 8 hours. Here is a link for those of you who are running into the same problem: www.sffchronicles.com/
I've recently purchased a few of Holly Lisles' 'How to Write' books for my Kindle. I'm 10 and 15 percent done with two of them and haven't found anything I haven't already been doing, but I'm hopeful that I'll run across some gems soon. Be advised that I haven't paid more to have access to her online documents that go along with the lessons. If you can afford them, using her aids wouldn't be a bad idea. I think I'm going to start taking a lot of notes so I can refer back to them through out my writing.

Creating A Timeline For Your Fantasy Characters
"Timelines are a way to get to know your characters through the events in their lives." Lea Docken, The Complete Guide To Writing Fantasy: Volume One, edited by Darin Park and Tom Dullemond
I am finding that starting a timeline for one character allows me not only to highlight the main events that have made him or her who he or she is, but to ask questions about their role in society, or their relationship to another character. To show you why this is true, this is what I wrote about Freya, my dark hero, last night. (If you are interested to see how Freya develops, check out The Chronicles of Aleria.)
1) Freya was born to Laudin, who is th
Whotdunnit, a Murder Mystery Game
My currant project, Whotdunnit, cannot be posted on Deviant Art, but may be something that some of you may be interested in following. (I suppose Whotdunnit may fall under the Interactive Fan Fiction category, since it is based upon the show Whodunnit, and is a game.) The premise is that 12 people are trapped in an And Then There Were Nonesk mansion to unmask an unknown 'Killer.' They each have to visit either the Last Known Whereabouts, Morgue, and Crime Scene and put the evidence they have gathered individually and from their alliance together to form a 'State Your Case.' 'The Killer' reviews all of these to determine who has the best case,
Dr. Who Worldwide Applicant
Today I applied for a writing position with Dr. Who Worldwide. Keep your fingers crossed, friends. :) It would be unpaid, but a neat way to share my work while serving the Whovians and researching a show that I love. I've been thinking about writing for a living, so perhaps if I'm able to get my foot in the door with them (or someone else) it will help clarify that I should indeed continue with my fan fiction, fan theories, short stories, etc.
