The pose and the level of attention to detail on the male character is superb. I like the angle of his face and the overall pose. It adds a lot of movement to him. His design makes him look very sinister.
However, with the girl, I feel like she doesn't have the same quality as the guy. Instead of having her expression look blank, she could look more distressed or angered. I think this will help convey the story between these two more if she expressed something. Also, her hair looks unfinished to me. It looks rather rough compared to the other elements in the painting and that red stands out more than I think it should. Maybe tone down the color a bit and smooth out the sketchiness with more shading in the hair. I would also try to add more of that white wrapping on other parts of her body, like her legs and a little on her arm, just to help balance out her outfit.
Nice work on this though. Love the different oranges, browns, and the subtle hint of greens in the environment
I'm sure I don't have to say this but this piece is wonderfully done. What I love the most out of this piece would be their pants, I kid you not. The folds are where they should be and are nicely defined.
While this is gorgeous, there are a few things I would like to suggest.
Something that I noticed is that Light's body area looks rather soft compared to his face. It doesn't look like there aren't any dark shadows in his body like there are in the face. Maybe add some darker tones in there, it will also help define some of his muscle features a bit more.
One other thing with his skin is that it looks like his face and body have two different skin tones. His body has a little warmer skin tone than his face.
The necklace with the three beads that Light is wearing, while it is nice, it seems like it doesn't necessarily need to be there. It's a little hard to notice at this moment. Darkening the chain/string and adding some darker shadows may help bring out that necklace more.
Also, with Light, his wing looks darker than L's. Maybe brighten that up so it matches with L's or so that it looks more noticeable. It also looks like it's blending in with the wall too.
The blue glow around L is a nice touch. Really shows out his angelic side. Also the two light sources must have been hard to work with, but you made it look like it was a piece of cake (which I'm sure L would enjoy ). What's great is that the yellow is a very nice golden color and it's easy on the eyes.
Overall this is still a wonderful piece of artwork. I was going to suggest the apple and their faces, but it seems like someone else has mention them so I won't say anything.
What really drew me into this was the expression of the man in the photo. Not only that, but also the angle and the position that he is in. Normally I'm used to see the 1/3rd grid rule being used on the sides, haven't seen it used on the bottom like this.
Also, the angle that he is at with that expression makes it look like he's looking straight at us with a "What are you looking at?" feeling in my opinion. It's as if we're bigger than what he is and he doesn't want wanderers around interrupting his work.
Maybe since his expression is a little hard to read it lets viewers come up with their own interpretation of what's he is feeling, seeing, thinking, ect.
Overall, this is a very nice photo and it's well balanced. Due to the gray scale, at first I thought this was a sketch
