One Piece Crochet Shamrock
Materials:
crochet hook: 4.25mm, or G/6
Yarn: your choice worsted weight. This used Red Heart Super Saver in Hunter Green
Abbreviations:
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
tc = treble crochet
ch = chain stitch
st = stitch(es)
sl st = slip stitch
R1 - sc 6 in a circle (amigurumi double ring) = 6 st
sl st 1 to complete the circle
R2 - *ch 3, work (2tc, 2dc, 2tc) in next st. ch 2, sl st next st.* repeat twice more for 3 leaves.
stem: ch 6, then sl st 2nd ch from hook and sl st each of remaining ch back to the centre. bind off and weave in ends.
Your shamrock will be approximately approx. 3" tall by 2.5" wide. (You can increase this by using larger hooks, which will also result in looser stitches, or increasing the thickness of yarn used as well as hook size.)
Now you can use it as an applique on the tummy or hair of your latest amigurumi doll, fix it to a brooch pin, hair barrette or pin, or even use a long hatpin to secure it to your St. Patrick's Day hat or outfit. You could even sew a few together at corners in a line, attach some elastic and make a hair band out of it. Mucho applications. Have fun, and Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Edit: You can make them into a garland too!

Journal 25 - Studio-Making
Today on my blog : Studio-Making Over a year and a half ago, I arranged a nice little desk in my basement laundry room to serve as my jewelery-making 'studio' space. It worked well enough in the summer when I wanted to escape to the cool basement to create. In the winter, well.. I could always wear polar fleece (I practically live in fleece in the winter anyway).We have a small bedroom in the basement that's not being used much, so I decided to make the space a little more useful.Check out my blog for the rest of the story and pictures, if you like. There's still work to do in there, but I have a place to create, and that makes me feel g...

Or...you could sew the top corners together and make some streamer type things to hang up. I can't think of what they're called at the moment.
