24-hour Art Day - Cover

The first illustration completed for 24-hour art day (Generate) at SCAD-Atlanta. The challenge was to create two finished illustrations (or one spread) for the manuscript for a story. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention the title of the story here (since the book is still just a manuscript), so all you need to know is that it is a children's Christmas story.

This is a cover illustration. Sadly, no actual reindeer appear in the story, but their presence is suggested. Here I showed the children opening a magic bag.

There are a few things I would change if I could (primarily some anatomy issues), but overall I'm happy with how it turned out. I experimented more using masking fluid, and got some pretty crisp, white edges. I also used a dab of white gouache here and there, but most of the white you see is the white of the paper.
