I recently received a message form a follower who had been threatened to be reported for posting illegal nudity online here in Deviant Art. The person or victim was truly upset and apologetic.
Whoever was the one making the threats is nothing more than a cyber bully. The artwork in question was not out of the normal scope of what is posted on here and was properly marked for "Nudity".
I do understand and realize that everyone has his or her own view and belief of what nudity should be shown, every society has it's own definitions of taboo's.
But, It realty riles me to hear that someone has to impose their point of view on people when it comes to their ability to exercise the right to free speech.
The right to free speech takes many forms, art, talk, protest ect. You as a person who does not want to have such images hit your eyes and disturb your psyche has this unique ability not to.
It is so simple just to filter what you see and it is open available online and in Deviant Art. You the Offended also have a responsibility to yourself. Not to seek out that which offends you.
If you are worried about what your kids may be able to see, then be more proactive in your kids life. Use monitors and block adult sites. Get help if needed. No one on here wants to influence anyone with sexual ideas. Especially children. The reality is that artistic nudity is every where, If you don't like it or allow it in your home filter it out.
I respect that stance and ideology.
There are way to many people in this country and world of all races, genders, religions that want everyone to think just like them and listen and see only what they see fit.
There is still a working Constitution in this country, I defended it for years live by it and believe in it.
For those who decide to give up because you offended someone who was purposely looking to be offended, Do not back down and quit!!!!
If it was not an illegal act, stand up for what you have created! Michael Angelo was also criticized for nude marble sculptures. Genitals were purposely chiseled off of sculptures in the past because the were offensive to whomever. Yet he and other great masters did not quit sculpting.
