BTW- Im no expert at backgrounds and I really shouldn't review this, but its kinda unkewl when somebody asks for critiques and doesn't receive any after months of waiting.

This is my favourite out of the two you've done. I thought that the way you made presented the text on the first one was clever - it still looked somewhat tacky to me somehow. Personal opinions.

This one is awesome tho. Not full marks, as there are more deviations out there that deserve more then four star - but still an awesome piece worthy being on the official site. What city is that in the distance anyway?

Never written a deviantArt critique before, but people seem to like them so Im gonna give it a shot. Not sure if I'm gonna do too well...

First off, I thought that the lighting was highly effective and definitely created a great sort of candlelight atmosphere in the picture. The shadows this created made the entire picture and Rarity a lot more mysterious, and the pose was even quite intimidating. The crossed leg and laid back appearance of the woman certainly reflected that of Rarity. Very classy setting too of course.
For me, the worst (really, the only bad thing I noticed) part of the picture is the structure of the arms... although the torso and legs seem to be drawn almost perfectly. The arms just do not seem to look right however... the upper part and shoulder of the right arm (her right) seems too thin, almost anorexic. Yes, this would be acceptable for a cartoon drawing, but I don't understand how that could be relevant when the rest of the body seems so real. Maybe its just me, but thats what I think when I look at it.

The lighting makes up for it however, it sets a real flirty - yet serious feeling for the pic. Nice one.
