Description
Anubis is the Greek name of a god associated with mummification and the afterlife in ancient Egyptian , usually depicted canine or a man with a canine head. Archeologists identified the sacred animal of Anubis as an Egyptian canid, that at the time was called the golden jackal.
Since Predynastic Egypt, when the dead were buried in shallow graves, "jackals" had been strongly associated with cemeteries because they were scavengers which uncovered human bodies and ate their flesh. In the spirit of "fighting like with like," a "jackal" was chosen to protect the dead, because "a common problem (and cause of concern) must have been the digging up of bodies, shortly after burial, by jackals and other wild dogs which lived on the margins of the cultivation.
In Greek mythology, Cerberus- often called the "hound of Hades, is the monstrous multi-headed dog that guards the gates of the Underworld to prevent the dead from leaving. Cerberus was the offspring of the monsters Echidna and Typhon
In my World-- Anubis is the Master of Cerberus in Hades and together the return to Egypt to consume souls to bring back to the UnderWorld.

In greek mythology, since they got large portions of their culture from Egypt, they also borrowed some of their gods. Some were repurposed entirely and new names, and others like anubis here were fused with their own god Hermes to make Hermanubis. This was because they had similar roles in their respective mythology. He was particularly popular when Egypt was ruled by Greek and Rome.
Reading how you kinda fused Egyptian and Greek mythologies in the description reminded me
At any rate, Anpu is adorable. Nice work
