Description
Lemurosaurus was a burnetiamorph, a kind of ancient pre-mammal. At this stage, it was unlikely to have had fur. Lemurosaurus is known from a couple of skulls from the late Permian (about 260 million years ago), South Africa. Its name means 'ghost lizard' for its rather spooky appearance. It had thickenings like a pair of horns over its eyes. Its eyes were quite large, hinting possible nocturnality. It had long-sharp canine teeth and was likely a hunter of small creatures. It was about cat- to medium-dog-sized.
