Crested Francolin

Here are three Crested Francolins - Ortygornis sephaena! This species lives in southern and eastern Africa, and is one of the most common partridge-like species in northern South Africa. They live in open to dense savannah woodland, often given away by their incredibly loud, raucous calls. They sometimes lift their tails high and then look a bit like bantam chickens.
