Cave Beam

This cave in Morocco is part of the largest cave network in North Africa. I got my girlfriend and the guide to stand in the beam of light to add a sense of scale. I took an HDR sequence to get a bit more detail in the shadows and the beam.

This is such a beautiful and breath taking shot. The sun is places so perfectly for this effect as well, and I feel it makes a lot of difference having the two people standing in the shaft of light as well. The Light looks such a curious colour with the dust in it- like it is the light of God or something.
The rest of the image is in some great detail too- the plants and vegetation on the walls of the hole as well as the detail in the rock formation and layering.
I feel this is a fantastic shot that has the best of both worlds in the way of normal lighting and contrast to the cave walls, and the bright and somewhat magical light from the outside world.
