The Land of the Damned by Will-Erwin The Land of the Damned by Will-Erwin
This is an expansion of an earlier commission, depicting the Land of the Damned from the Palladium Fantasy RPG.

This cursed land was the seat of power for the Old Ones before their downfall, and has imprisoned their minions ever since. The Alliance of Light overthrew those ancient horrors and raised many barriers to hold in the damned, including the Northern Mountains, the highest peaks in the Palladium world. Each region within this land embodies and exemplifies its own pathway to damnation: the denial of death, the corruption of virtue, the devastation of war, the oppression of tyranny, and the emptiness of regret. In game terms, this region is the ultimate challenge for adventure groups; the world's greatest heroes go here and die.

You may notice that two of the regions, The Bleakness and Broken Horn, lack the detail of the southern regions. The book describing these regions has not yet been published. The markers inside are based on what I can glean from the other books. The rest of the map is as canon-accurate as I can make it.

As with most of my maps, I created this with some variations on some Arsheesh tutorials, including the Eriond technique, his icon mini-tutorial, his curved label tutorial, and his ornate frame tutorial. The icons are my own creation, although the runes come from the Palladium Fantasy RPG.

Palladium Books owns the copyright to Palladium Fantasy and the books that describe the contents of this map. Please do not use any part of this creation for any commercial purposes (unless you work for Palladium Books, in which case, please send me a PM).

(edit: I added in woods, another small custom icon, and a backlight effect for the title)
(edit: I added a legend and fixed a spelling error)

Kingthings Calligraphica 2. It's a free-use font you can download from Fontsquirrel.

I was just browsing through some of these old comments when I realized I was mistaken. The font in this map is Yataghan, not Kingthings Calligraphica 2 (the font I use for most of my fantasy maps).

But thanks for taking the time to reply again ^^

This map is beautifully done!  Enough detail to give you the overview of each area while still leaving space to add more details as you go along :-). I love the history you've include that brings the world to life and gives us a feel for its atmosphere and history.  I Would eagerly adventure there :-D

Thank you! You know, you can actually do some adventuring there if you're into the tabletop RPGs. There are two sourcebooks on the region, which you can find here and here. The third has been in development hell for over a decade due to the author and the company parting ways; I'm hoping to see it get published eventually.

Yeah, this is the area of the RPG world where the great heroes go to die.

It sounds like a great concept!
I may write a story inspired by this country because it sounds very interesting. :)

Go for it, though I should warn you that Palladium Books owns the names in this map, so if you ever want to make money selling such a story, you'd have to go through them or change things around. Of course, if you're just writing for fun, have at it, and please do post a link!

Nice work on this.  The borders are quite interesting, and I like all the icons you've come up with, especially the skull with glowing eyes (nice touch that).

Thanks, Tad! Yeah, I actually named one of my layers "Creepy Glowing Eyes" in my source file after seeing one of my daughters react to an early version. That one was fun to make.

And here I must surrender my nerd card, because I've never read The Wheel of Time. The Blasted Lands are described in Palladium Fantasy's Land of the Damned, Book 1.

Maybe it's time for me to finally pick up that series on my Kindle.

Really? I've heard it's good to have a pretty clear calendar for the next month or two. How many books are in that series?

Alas, I can't claim credit for any of the names in here, as this map closely conforms to Palladium Books' products, but thanks! I'm glad you like it!
