Great Northern Wilderness Icon Collection by Will-Erwin Great Northern Wilderness Icon Collection by Will-Erwin
These are the heraldic shield icons I made for my Great Northern Wilderness political map, specifically for full member states or tribes of the Wolfen Empire. I'm posting this for folks who want to see these at their full size, not the shrunk-down versions on the political map. The numbered names on the left correspond to specific wolfen tribes, while the column on the right is for non-wolfen member states and a generic city marker for major cities that aren't also tribal centers.

The tribal names are taken from the Wolfen Empire adventure book for the Palladium Fantasy Roleplaying Game by Palladium Books. The icon design for the Long Knife tribe also comes from the Wolfen Empire book, specifically from a couple of tapestries in the background of page 10 by Scott Johnson, which I colorized. The symbols on some of the shields are characters of the wolfen language from page 45 of the Wolfen Empire book.

All of the other components of the icons and the shield designs are my own work, with the questionable exception of the Sun Child design, which is loosely based on a tattoo I saw a few weeks ago. Obviously, it's not an exact copy.

Is the Golden ear supposed to be based off the Russians?

That thought occurred to me as well, but no, it's not meant to be. The soviet symbol was a crossed hammer and sickle. This is meant to suggest mining and smithing, which are the two main industries of that tribe, hence the pickaxe and hammer.
