Portrait Study

For this portrait study I combined two references to create a new image.  For lighting and color I referenced a portrait by Sargent.  For the features I referenced a photo.  You can see those here:

This forced me to analyze rather than copy.

not really good

I am new to digital painting and I am looking at all of art on here to get some ideas. I never thought about combining 2 references for a face and lighting.

You should have just painted that lady how she was, she's gorgeous. It's a shame she got whitened and mixed 
Thanks for including the reference. I will paint her myself and give her and her skin tone the treatment she deserves

Looks so simple and clean, very nice!! :D I'm always trying to get that oil painting feeling in digital art, but it always ends up too ..sharp(?) which brushes did you use?
